Title: Sr. SAFe Scrum Master / Team Coach
Location: Washington, D.C.(Hybrid)
Duration: 12 months contract

Job Description:

The Sr. SAFe Scrum Master / Team Coach (SM/TC) serves as a servant leader and Agile coach for one or more Agile Teams within a SAFe Agile Release Train (ART). This role focuses on improving team performance, ensuring delivery of customer value, and supporting SAFe adoption at the team and enterprise levels.

Key Responsibilities:

• Coach Agile teams on self-organization and continuous improvement
• Facilitate all Scrum and SAFe team-level ceremonies (Daily Stand-ups, Iteration Planning, Reviews, Retrospectives, PI Planning, etc.)
• Guide teams in applying Agile principles, Lean thinking, Built-in Quality, Kanban, and Flow practices
• Support conflict resolution, problem-solving, and team decision-making
• Promote transparency and maintain Agile information radiators (Kanban boards, metrics, etc.)
• Help teams and individuals grow toward T-shaped skills and continuous learning mindsets
• Coach Product Owners on effective backlog management and prioritization
• Measure and optimize team performance using flow, competency, and outcome metrics (e.g., OKRs)
• Serve as a liaison between the team and the larger ART for alignment, coordination, and delivery
• Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and psychological safety
• Actively participate in Communities of Practice (CoPs) and enterprise Agile transformation efforts
• Champion SAFe best practices and support other teams and stakeholders in Agile adoption
• Facilitate IP Iteration (Innovation & Planning) and ensure dedicated time for innovation and learning
• Represent teams during ART sync meetings and participate in cross-team coordination activities

Required Qualifications:

• Minimum 5+ years experience as a Scrum Master, Agile Coach, or Team Coach in a large-scale enterprise
• Proven experience in facilitating SAFe ceremonies and supporting ART execution
• Strong expertise in:
  • SAFe 6.0 Framework
  • Jira Software, Jira Align, Confluence, FigJam, AgilityInsights
• Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

Certification Required - SAFe 6.0 Scrum Master (SSM) - must have
