Data Center Technician

Location: 1700 N. River Road in Douglasville, Georgia [ONSITE]

Contract: 6-12+ months

Client: HCL- America

Technical Requirement:

• Minimum 2 year of experience in Break fix

• Solid understanding of physical layer concepts: fiber optic connections, contamination checks, and cleaning procedures

• Knowledge of ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) best practices and must have Driving Licenses

• Comfortable working in text-based CLI environments

• Familiarity with IP-based networking

• A+ / Network+ level knowledge or equivalent

• Strong understanding of the OSI model and core networking principles

• Minimum 2+ years of Data Center experience

• Minimum 2+ years of IT-related experience

• Hands-on experience working with Linux-based systems, including scripting and automation (Bash, Python, Perl)

• Understanding of networking technologies such as BGP, Spanning Tree, VRRP, and LACP

• Good organization, multitasking, and communication skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools: Word, Outlook, and Excel

• Knowledge of DC network procedures, environmental controls, and safety protocols

Responsibilities

• Perform physical hardware swaps for Fabric and Backbone environments
  • Optical transceiver replacements and circuit diagnostics
  • Line card replacements
  • TOR (Top of Rack) switch replacements
  • Coordinate with vendors for RMA processing
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
• Maintain accurate asset management records
• Manage tools, tickets, and documentation
• Build strong working relationships with partner teams within the Data Center
• Review hardware logs to isolate and identify root causes of issues
• Troubleshoot remote link connectivity problems
• Mentor and guide L1 technicians
