Description
Position Overview
The Enterprise Director of Data Science & Artificial Intelligence is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing all enterprise-level data science initiatives and the strategic development of the organization's artificial intelligence capabilities. This includes owning the full data infrastructure stack, ensuring data integrity and security, driving cross-functional collaboration with business units, and leading a team of data and AI professionals. This role blends deep technical leadership with people management, business acumen, and tactical execution.

Key Responsibilities
1. Team & People Management
Directly manage a multidisciplinary team that includes data engineers, data analysts, data scientists, AI professionals, Power BI and Power Platform experts, and business analysts.
Conduct all HR-related responsibilities including hiring, onboarding, training, performance management, and career development.
Prioritize and allocate team resources based on evolving business needs.
Facilitate two tactical stand-up meetings per week and one weekly team-building/communication meeting to promote collaboration and clarity.
2. Data Infrastructure & Security
Oversee the back-end enterprise data architecture and security, with responsibility for managing Microsoft Azure Data Factory and other relevant Microsoft data tools and services.
Ensure data pipelines, transformation workflows, and integration points are secure, scalable, and aligned with business requirements.
Collaborate with IT security and infrastructure teams to maintain compliance and best practices.
3. Artificial Intelligence Oversight
Lead the strategy, adoption, and expansion of the Abacus AI platform.
Supervise the AI Manager and AI Analyst and ensure AI models are integrated effectively into business processes.
Identify new use cases for AI and advanced analytics to enhance decision-making across the enterprise.
4. Power Platform & BI Support
Ensure that the enterprise team includes:
o A Power BI expert with advanced knowledge in data modeling and enterprise reporting.
o A Power Apps developer to support workflow automation and low-code/no-code app development.
o A Business Analyst to bridge data and business needs, gather requirements, and ensure value delivery.
Serve as a point of escalation and support for front-end Power BI developers embedded within business units, particularly for data model access, integration, and performance tuning.
5. Cross-functional Collaboration
Act as the enterprise liaison between IT, business units, and data consumers across departments.
Build and maintain a shared service model where centralized data science and AI support distributed reporting and analytic needs.
Develop and maintain a prioritized roadmap of initiatives with clear ROI and delivery timelines.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or related field.
8+ years of experience in enterprise data roles, including at least 3 years in a leadership or management capacity.
Strong experience with Microsoft Azure Data Factory and related Azure data services (e.g., Synapse, SQL DB).
Proven experience leading AI/ML initiatives using platforms like Abacus AI or equivalent.
Deep understanding of Power BI, Power Apps, and Microsoft Power Platform ecosystem.
Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage competing priorities.
Excellent communication, collaboration, and strategic thinking skills.
