RF Engineer-Specialist Senior

Work you'll do
The engineer will work as part of the Electrical Engineering team and be responsible for developing, integrating, and testing Radio Frequency (RF) and Antenna hardware solutions in consultation with customers from nearly every industry. The successful candidate must be knowledgeable, self-motivated, thrive in a rapid entrepreneurial development environment, and possess strong analytical skills with an engineering imagination. The candidate must have a positive attitude and work well independently and as a member of a team.

Work you'll do
The engineer will work as part of the Electrical Engineering team and be responsible for developing, integrating, and testing Radio Frequency (RF) and Antenna hardware solutions in consultation with customers from nearly every industry. - Development of novel, optimized RF and antenna system architectures to meet client specifications, through custom design or off-the-shelf integrations.
- Research and analyze RF solutions for viability, optimization, and new product concept generation.
- Hands-on assembly and debugging of functional prototypes
- Creation of test plans, performing device testing, and interfacing with third party test labs
- Lead Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) validation and verification on product designs
- Interfacing directly with clients as well as other internal departments
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or similar field
- Minimum of 5 years relevant work experience
- Experience in antenna design and integration for a variety of antenna topologies including optimization of key metrics such as efficiency, gain, bandwidth, VSWR, radiation patterns, etc.
- Understanding of RF front end circuit design principles including transmitters, receivers, amplifiers, filters, and routing techniques.
- Proficient in simulation software such as CST, ADS, Spice, etc.
- Experience in RF test equipment operation including CMW500, VNA, spectrum analyzer, signal generator, antenna chambers, and shield rooms
- Ability to work on site in Chicago and travel up to 10% as needed
- Must be able to obtain a secret clearance
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree with a concentration in RF or antenna systems
- Radio knowledge in numerous different technologies which should include: Wifi, Bluetooth, 5G, LTE, CAT M1, NB-IoT, Zigbee, GPS, LoRa, 900Mhz, UWB, mmWave, or point-to-point.
- Experience with RF system performance calculations such as link budget, WiFi throughput, etc.
- Experience with EMC debug, certification, and noise mitigation techniques
- Experience with schematic capture and PCB layout design
- Experience working during proof-of-concept phase, prototyping, bring-up, and production environments
- Experience with test automation and software programming such as LabVIEW, Python, Embedded C, NI TestStand, etc.
- Excellent communication skills, self-managing initiative, and detail-oriented workmanship.
