Job Description

Kratos is seeking a Test Engineer to support the development, integration, and execution of test strategies for the AN/SPY-1 radar system, with a focus on validating restored and modernized subsystems including the transmitter, signal processor, and antenna. The Test Engineer will work closely with subject matter experts (SMEs), depot and lab personnel, and Navy stakeholders to define test requirements, design procedures, and implement verification strategies that ensure radar subsystem performance and readiness. This role is key to establishing long-term organic test capability within Kratos facilities and government depots.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute test plans, procedures, and scripts for radar subsystem and component-level testing.
  • Lead design of test configurations and instrumentation setups for restored or prototype equipment, including environmental and RF tests.
  • Collaborate with subsystem SMEs (antenna, transmitter, signal processor) to ensure coverage of critical performance parameters.
  • Support hardware-in-the-loop testing, near-field antenna measurements, RF alignment, and calibration procedures.
  • Design and document test benches, interface harnessing, and signal emulation methods for legacy hardware verification.
  • Integrate and validate AI/ML-enabled test tools and automated test stations where appropriate.
  • Ensure test processes comply with DoD/Navy test standards, including NAVSEA METCAL, MIL-STD-461/810, and applicable radar-specific specifications.
  • Participate in root cause investigations, regression testing, and resolution of non-conformance issues.
  • Assist in the development of Integrated Test Plans (ITPs) and test traceability to system-level requirements and specifications.
  • Support planning for Phase 3 and 4 activities including prototype validation, depot stand-up, and verification of GFI repairs.

Role is located in Crane, Indiana or remote for candidates willing to travel.

Experience and Skills

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in test engineering, preferably with DoD radar, RF, or electronic warfare systems.
  • Proficiency in RF testing, signal integrity verification, and use of test equipment (spectrum/network analyzers, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers).
  • Experience developing and executing test procedures in accordance with military or aerospace standards.
  • Ability to interpret and validate technical data, schematics, and test documentation.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Active Secret Clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience supporting AN/SPY-1 or AEGIS Weapon System radar components.
  • Familiarity with automated test systems (ATS) and LabVIEW, TestStand, or similar platforms.
  • Understanding of Open Systems Architecture (OSA) and digital engineering test integration.
  • Knowledge of ordnance alteration (ORDALT) testing, factory acceptance testing (FAT), or depot acceptance testing (DAT).
  • Active TS/SCI Clearance

Travel: ~10-20%, including visits to test sites, shipyards, government labs, and partner facilities.
