Job Title: DB2/Optim Systems Programmer

Location: Remote role

Duration: 12+ Months

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced DB2 z/OS System Programmer to install, configure, maintain, and optimize IBM DB2 on the z/OS platform. The role involves ensuring the stability, security, and efficiency of DB2 subsystems, while collaborating with application and infrastructure teams to support critical banking operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install and upgrade DB2 for z/OS and related tools/products.
  • Configure and maintain DB2 subsystems, including buffer pools, storage groups, and system parameters.
  • Monitor and optimize DB2 performance and resource usage.
  • Apply maintenance updates (PTFs, APARs) and manage system migrations.
  • Provide technical support for DB2-related issues and assist in incident resolution.
  • Collaborate with application developers, DBAs, and infrastructure teams.
  • Ensure compliance with security, audit, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain accurate documentation for system configurations and operational procedures.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Proven experience as a DB2 z/OS System Programmer.
  • Strong understanding of z/OS operating system and mainframe architecture.
  • Proficiency with SMP/E, JCL, TSO/ISPF, and REXX.
  • Experience with performance monitoring tools (e.g., IBM OMEGAMON, RMF).
  • Expertise in Backup and Recovery Systems, patching, and performance tuning.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with DB2 Tools and IBM Data Studio.
  • Familiarity with advanced automation and scripting for DB2 environments.
