Salary: $140,000.00 USD Annually - $190,000.00 USD Annually
Description:
We're building something brand new! A business division that will securely serve multiple customers under a single AWS tenant. The challenge? Making sure each customer's environment is completely isolated, secure, and easy to monitor. That's where you come in.

As our Senior AWS Cloud Security Engineer, you'll be the one shaping how this gets done. You won't just be a technical expert; you'll also be working alongside senior leaders, business executives, and outside vendors. Your voice will carry weight in meetings, and your expertise will help establish a secure and scalable foundation for the future.
Candidates MUST be able to commit to a Hybrid or Onsite Schedule in Scottsdale, AZ

This job will have the following responsibilities:
  • Architecting Security from the Ground Up:
    • Build and design secure AWS environments where each customer's data is fully isolated.
    • Put strong policies and guardrails in place so security isn't an afterthought - it's built-in.
  • Making Security Visible and Measurable:
    • Set up monitoring tools like CloudTrail, GuardDuty, and Security Hub to give us real-time visibility.
    • Build dashboards and reports that make audits straightforward and repeatable.
  • Being the Go-To Expert:
    • Partner with senior executives, engineers, and vendors to align on security strategies.
    • Confidently explain risks and solutions in plain language, turning complex issues into actionable decisions.
  • Driving Continuous Security:
    • Create playbooks for incidents, audits, and reviews so we're always ready.
    • Stay ahead of compliance needs and ensure our environments are audit-ready at all times.

On a typical day, you might:
  1. Review IAM roles and policies to keep permissions lean and secure.
  2. Tune monitoring pipelines for alerts and evidence collection.
  3. Write secure Terraform for CloudFormation templates.
  4. Work with DevOps to make sure security is baked into CI/CD pipelines.
  5. Jump on a call with leadership to walk through the security impacts of a new service.

Qualifications & Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field or relevant/equivalent work experience.
  • 7-10 years in IT/security, with at least 5 years of hands-on experience in AWS security engineering.
  • Comfort working directly with senior leaders and external partners.
  • Strong knowledge of cybersecurity principles, practices, and tools.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to non-technical stakeholders.
  • A proven ability to turn security policies into real, monitorable environments.
  • Bonus points for relevant certifications like AWS Certified Security - Specialty, AWS Solutions Architect - Professional, CISSP, CISM or CISA.

Skills that Make You Stand Out:
  • Deep AWS knowledge (IAM, VPC, KMS, GuardDuty, Config, CloudTrail, Control Tower).
  • Hands-on with Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, CloudFormation).
  • Ability to explain technical risk to non-technical audiences.
  • Experience with compliance frameworks like SOC 2, PCI, HIPAA, or ISO 27001.
  • Strong instincts for problem-solving and staying calm when things get tough.
