Job Details



Duration: 6 months, with likely extensions based on performance
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM CST (some flexibility required).
Location: Preference for candidates near Southeastern WI or New York, NY with one day per week onsite. Open to remote candidates within the U.S.




Business Need


We are seeking a highly skilled Business Analyst / Product Owner / Project Coordinator with deep insurance and underwriting domain expertise. The role requires strong experience with insurance policies, forms, actuarial or policy rating processes, and collaboration across business and IT to deliver critical project outcomes.




Key Responsibilities




  • Act as liaison between business and IT to ensure project success.




  • Lead requirements gathering sessions focused on insurance and actuarial business processes.




  • Document requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria in JIRA.




  • Create and update insurance forms (ISO-based), policies, and supporting documents.




  • Support actuarial teams by capturing and documenting rating attributes/elements in MS Excel.




  • Lead UAT planning, execution, and defect resolution, collaborating with vendors and development teams.




  • Drive end-to-end project delivery from requirements through implementation.




  • Facilitate daily standups with onshore/offshore teams to monitor deliverables and blockers.






Required Skills & Experience




  • 5+ years of Business Analysis experience in the insurance industry.




  • Proven experience with underwriting, policies/forms, actuarial or policy rating projects.




  • Ability to document actuarial data attributes/elements using Excel.




  • Strong knowledge of insurance policy administration systems and integration projects.




  • Demonstrated ability to elicit requirements from senior stakeholders.




  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.




  • Hands-on UAT leadership and defect management experience.




  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Visio); LibreOffice experience a plus.




  • Strong process analysis, documentation, and mapping skills.




  • Insurance specialties a plus: accident & health, employee stop loss, cyber, construction, aviation.






Preferred/Bonus Skills




  • Experience with external vendors (Dociphi, Quantiphi, Majesco, web development partners).




  • Exposure to insurance data analytics, digitization, or AI initiatives.




  • Predictive or generative AI experience (e.g., ChatGPT, Azure AI) a plus.




  • Microsoft Word "power user" for form creation and formatting.

  • Self-starter with proven ability to deliver insurance-related projects independently.




  • Skilled communicator, confident engaging with business leadership.




  • Experience balancing both IT-driven and business-driven initiatives.




  • Resume should highlight insurance and actuarial achievements
