Job Summary:
We are seeking a Technical Writer with proven experience supporting State of California government projects. The ideal candidate will be responsible for drafting, editing, and formatting high-quality documentation such as project assessments, oversight reports, project status updates, and other recurring reports required by the State. This role demands strong attention to detail, consistent delivery, and familiarity with California s project documentation standards.
Length - 3 years
Compensation - W2 up to 80k, C2C- $50/Hr.-60/Hr.
Responsibilities:
Draft, edit, and finalize technical and administrative documentation including:
Weekly and monthly project status reports
Project assessment and risk analysis documents
Oversight documentation for State of California review (e.g., CDT)
Meeting minutes, stakeholder communications, and action logs
Ensure deliverables meet the State of California formatting and compliance standards
Work with project managers, analysts, and teams to collect and interpret data for reports
Maintain version control and centralized documentation (e.g., SharePoint, Google Drive)
Support project audits and reviews by ensuring accuracy and consistency of all written content
Required Qualifications:
5+ years of experience in technical writing or documentation roles
Previous experience supporting State of California projects
Familiarity with California-specific deliverables such as PAL documents, CDT oversight forms, and Stage Gate reports
Strong writing, editing, and formatting skills for both technical and executive audiences
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and PDF tools
Ability to work independently and manage routine deadlines
