One of CEI's largest Telecommunications clients is seeking a Repair Technician II to join their growing organization!

Job Title: Repair Technician II
Location: Onsite | Allen, TX 75002
Work Schedule/Shift: Mon-Fri 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM | Minimum 40 work hours per week.
Duration/Length of Assignment: 2-Month Contract (Potential extension based on performance and budget)
Pay Rate: $17.13 per hour
Additional Information: Physical role; must be able to lift 10–50 lbs. Candidates must possess a valid IPC soldering certification prior to employment.

Position Overview:
This position supports a critical initiative within one of the leading electronics manufacturers in North America, focused on restoring, repairing, and refurbishing DVR (Digital Video Recorder) systems and related hardware. The role is part of a specialized repair team operating within the company’s only North American repair and refurbished manufacturing center. The group is responsible for handling advanced troubleshooting and physical repair work that goes beyond standard repair procedures. The team consists of experienced technicians and engineers collaborating across functions to ensure high-quality hardware restoration and functionality. The person in this role will be responsible for performing detailed component-level repair work, including interpreting schematics, performing physical diagnostics, and reworking subassemblies. Daily responsibilities involve working closely with both Engineering and Customer Service teams to resolve hardware failures and track defect data. The environment is structured, high-paced, and production-focused, with an emphasis on documentation and quality standards.

Required Skills/Experience/Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required
- 5+ years of experience in electronic component-level repair within a production or manufacturing environment
- Proven hands-on experience working with digital electronics including microcontrollers, memory devices, FPGAs (Field-Programmable Gate Arrays), and low-power signal components
- Expertise in advanced soldering and rework techniques, including SMD (Surface-Mount Devices), BGA (Ball Grid Array), and micro-soldering
- Strong ability to interpret and utilize schematics, inspection reports, and engineering documentation for diagnostics and repair
- Demonstrated use of IPC-compliant soldering techniques with valid certification such as IPC J-STD-001 or IPC-7711/7721 (must be obtained prior to start; certification cost not covered by employer)
- Familiarity with ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) practices and safe handling of sensitive electronic components
- Experience using SAP or similar systems for defect tracking, part replacement, and repair history documentation
Preferred Skills (Not Required):
- Associate degree or higher in a technical field such as Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or similar
- Prior experience working on DVR systems or similar multimedia/hardware devices
- Experience collaborating with customer service or field engineering teams to address returned units
- Knowledge of quality assurance or test validation procedures
Day to Day/Responsibilities:
- Begin each shift by reviewing incoming DVR systems and peripheral hardware units flagged for repair or refurbishment
- Use SAP to access defect records and initiate work orders for each assigned unit
- Conduct initial diagnostics using inspection tools and analyze failure reports to determine necessary repair path
- Perform component-level repairs on Printed Circuit Board Assemblies (PCBAs) and subassemblies, following internal quality and repair standards
- Utilize advanced soldering techniques such as SMD, BGA rework, and micro-soldering to replace defective components or rework existing circuitry
- Reference and interpret schematics, engineering documents, and inspection notes to identify and troubleshoot circuit faults
- Adhere to ESD safety protocols while handling sensitive components throughout all repair and handling processes
- Collaborate with Engineering and Customer Service teams to report complex failures, provide repair insights, and determine whether units should be repaired or replaced
- Accurately document all repair actions, observations, and part replacements in SAP, ensuring traceability and compliance with internal documentation standards
- Maintain repair area cleanliness and organization in compliance with site manufacturing and safety standards
- Lift and move hardware components weighing between 10–50 lbs as needed for repair tasks and logistics handling
