Job Details

We are urgently seeking a highly skilled and hands-on Senior Virtualization Engineer to backfill a critical role on our infrastructure team. This position is focused on supporting and maintaining our on-premises virtualization environment, primarily built on VMware ESXi and Nutanix hyperconverged infrastructure. The current SME has given notice, and we are looking to fast-track the hiring process.

HANDS ON

**Key Responsibilities:**

HANDS ON this person is responsible for very MISSION critical work. One miss could take multiple stores out.

Main focus: Understanding Nutanix storage technology, replication all on prem!

If no experience in Nutanix storage replication & storage technology for data replication, they are NOT a fit

- Provide day-to-day operational support for VMware ESXi and Nutanix environments.
- Manage and troubleshoot Nutanix storage replication technologies.
- Perform system upgrades, patching, and performance tuning.
- Ensure high availability and disaster recovery readiness of virtual infrastructure.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support business-critical applications.
- Document procedures and maintain system configuration records.

**Required Skills & Experience:**
- Proven hands-on experience with VMware ESXi in an enterprise on-prem environment.
- Deep expertise in Nutanix hyperconverged infrastructure.
- Strong knowledge of Nutanix storage replication technologies (e.g., Async DR, Metro Availability, NearSync).
- Ability to troubleshoot complex virtualization issues independently.
- Experience with Prism Central and other Nutanix management tools.
- Strong scripting or automation skills are a plus.

**Preferred Qualifications:**
- Nutanix Certified Professional (NCP) or VMware Certified Professional (VCP).
- Experience in fast-paced, high-availability environments.

Overall Job Summary

This position is responsible for the development and delivery of Virtualization Infrastructure services and automation to support enterprise operations for mission-critical environments.

Role includes responsibility in the design, development, and support of virtualization platforms and services to enable greater agility with fulfillment to accomplish company growth initiatives. Additional key responsibilities include mentor other team members in a DevOps operating model.

Technologies in scope include Nutanix, VMware and Azure virtualization platforms and technologies, data protection solutions, infrastructure automation tools, Ansible, Terraform, CI/CD pipelines and shared-service applications. Knowledge of cloud technology platforms, PaaS, IaaS, containers, Kubernetes, scripting languages such as Bash, PowerShell, Python and other Infrastructure automation languages.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Min 5%)

  • Lead the implementation of TSC's Virtualization Infrastructure strategy to support full CI/CD pipeline agility for service consumption.
  • Identify and implement ongoing opportunities for system and process improvements.
  • Assist in maintaining development standards complying with enterprise standards, ensuring solutions are optimally designed, secure, well performing and integrated with other solutions.
  • Deliver the objectives associated with problem management, such as customer communication and root cause analysis reports.
  • Foster key vendor relationships and contract performance.
  • Document internal SOPs, processes, and training to ensure team members are successful in DevOps environment.
  • Lead the team with internal infrastructure projects which may require cross departmental coordination to achieve goals.

Required Qualifications

Experience: 6+ years related work experience with Nutanix/VMware or other virtualization platforms, 3+ years related work experience in DevOps utilizing SDLC agile methodology

Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a related field preferred. Any suitable combination of education and experience will be considered.

Professional Certifications: Preferred Nutanix, VMware, Microsoft Azure Certifications
