Job Title: PingFederate Software Developer (authentication background)
Location: NYC, NY Midtown (must be NY based) | Hybrid 3-4 Days Onsite/1-2 Days Remote
Duration: 12+ Months Contract
Responsible to clear a backlog of low-priority tickets within the Identity and Access Management (IAM) team. Resolving configuration, integration, or minor development tasks that don t block critical workflows but are necessary for maintaining a secure, compliant authentication system. Clear a backlog of low-priority tickets related to SSO/authentication, most likely involving PingFederate configuration, integration tweaks, bug fixes, or minor enhancements.
Key Responsibilities
- Ticket Triage and Resolution
- Review backlog tickets for:
- Minor configuration issues (e.g., metadata updates, expired certificates, nameID format mismatches)
- Debugging failed SSO/SAML/OIDC flows
- Low-risk adapter or connection updates
- Custom error page or UI tweaks
- Deprecated connections or cleanup
- Categorize and prioritize based on complexity, risk, and dependencies
- PingFederate Configuration
- Update and test:
- Identity Provider (IdP) and Service Provider (SP) connections
- Attribute and token mappings
- SAML/OIDC connection details
- Rotate or renew expiring certificates or signing keys
- Authentication Troubleshooting
- Analyze logs and error messages
- Resolve issues around:
- MFA misconfigurations
- Incorrect token formats
- Session timeouts or login failures
- Handle user complaints related to intermittent SSO errors
- Scripting and Automation (Optional)
- Documentation
- Update ticket comments with clear technical explanations
- Contribute to internal knowledge base (e.g., how to handle common SAML errors)
- Document any workarounds or fixes applied
Required Skills and Knowledge
- PingFederate administration (IdP/SP configuration, token mapping, connection management)
- Familiarity with:
- SAML 2.0
- OAuth 2.0 / OIDC
- LDAP/Active Directory
- Basic debugging/troubleshooting using logs
- Ability to understand and modify authentication policies and adapters
- Optional: Java development experience (if working with custom adapters or plugins)
