Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Test Engineer to support the design, development, and execution of electrical test systems for advanced spaceflight and defense-related hardware. This role is based at a state-of-the-art engineering facility in Gilbert, Arizona, supporting mission-critical avionics and spacecraft subsystems.
The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Electrical Ground Support Equipment (EGSE) development, test automation, hardware/software integration, and formal test documentation in a regulated engineering environment.
Key Responsibilities
< data-start="1103" data-end="1142">Test System & EGSE Development</>Design, develop, and manufacture Electrical Ground Support Equipment (EGSE), including test hardware, software, and supporting documentation.
Select and integrate COTS test instruments, custom test enclosures, and specialized cabling.
Ensure test systems validate all contractual and design requirements of the Unit Under Test (UUT).
Support testing of embedded systems that include:
Single Board Computers (SBCs)
Custom analog and digital I/O boards for Command & Data Handling (C&DH)
CompactPCI (cPCI) architectures
Electrical Power System (EPS) boards for power switching, solar array control, and battery charging
Collaborate cross-functionally to meet program schedules and technical requirements.
Develop National Instruments LabVIEW VIs for:
Instrument control and monitoring
User Interfaces (UI)
UUT command and telemetry
Create Python or PERL scripts to automate execution of LabVIEW and VxWorks-based test code.
Integrate test software with embedded C code on SBC platforms.
Exposure to VHDL / FPGA integration is a plus.
Create and maintain:
Assembly drawings
Schematics
Parts lists
Utilize tools such as Microsoft Visio, Excel, and a formal document control system.
Author customer-facing documentation, including:
Integration & Test Plans
Environmental Test Plans
Acceptance Test Procedures
Ensure compliance with all design, quality, and customer requirements.
Mentor and support junior engineers in hardware/software development, debugging, and execution.
Take ownership of assignments and proactively drive tasks to completion.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor s degree in Electrical Engineering
7 10 years of relevant test engineering experience
Proficiency in one or more of the following programming languages:
C
LabVIEW
Python
PERL
Strong knowledge of:
Electrical hardware design
Circuit board design
Cabling and cable drawings (Visio)
Experience using Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Visio)
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills
Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and in team environments
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with VxWorks
Familiarity with VHDL / FPGA programming
Background in aerospace, defense, or regulated engineering environments

Base Salary Range: $120,000 $150,000 annually (location dependent)
