In this role, you will own well scoped features end to end-design, implementation, testing, telemetry, and iteration-while collaborating with product, design, and partner engineering to land high quality releases. You'll grow your expertise in real time media, performance engineering, and device integration, and you'll learn to use data to validate hypotheses and improve reliability.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with product managers, technical leads, and partner teams to define user requirements for screen sharing features and improvements.
  • Contribute to architectural discussions and help refine code plans for new and existing features, leveraging feedback and telemetry to guide decisions.
  • Implement robust, maintainable, and extensible code in React, TypeScript, and C++ (WebView2), following best practices for diagnosability, reliability, and maintainability, and troubleshoot issues using debugging tools, logs, and telemetry; conduct root cause analysis and apply learnings to improve the product.
  • Participate in code reviews to ensure quality and adherence to Microsoft standards.
  • Develop and execute clear test plans, add and improve automated tests, and help drive test coverage for your feature area.
  • Support live site operations, including on-call rotations, incident response, and proactive reliability improvements.
  • Integrate instrumentation and telemetry to monitor performance, reliability, and usage, and use data to inform future development.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR equivalent experience.
Other Requirements:
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 3+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 5+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • Experience with delivering performance optimization in a product through analysis of code, telemetry, and logs.Hands on delivery experience across at least one release cycle implementing features with evidence of maintainable & diagnosable code (e.g., component boundaries, logging, error handling, and recoverability).
  • Demonstrated debugging and root cause analysis proficiency using tools such as Visual Studio, WinDbg, ETW/PerfView (or equivalent), plus telemetry instrumentation and query (e.g., Kusto, Azure Monitor/App Insights) to guide engineering decisions.
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity associated with working in a fast-paced and changing environment.

Software Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $100,600 - $199,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $131,400 - $215,400 per year.
