Job Title: SAP Functional Consultant / Solution Architect Procurement, Planning & Materials Management

Location: On-site at client (Monday Thursday)

Duration: 4+ Months

Location: New York, NY

Start: Immediate

The consultant will work closely with both the consulting and client teams to drive standardization, streamline SAP usage, and enhance planning and execution processes through configuration, training, and best practice implementation. The contractor should be comfortable acting as translator between business needs and technical SAP setup (not a developer or ABAP specialist, or a technical user support experiences, but someone who can work with both business users and technical teams to enhance the clients usage of SAP and identify areas where that can help them address their challenges with material availability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, configuration, and delivery of SAP process improvements within Procurement, Planning, and Materials Management.
  • Support the Integrated Planning workstreamand related supply chain areas to ensure alignment across functions.
  • Partner with client stakeholders to standardize SAP usage, eliminate manual workarounds, and improve system adoption.
  • Facilitate cross-functional value stream mapping and drive SAP adoption to improve KPIs such as:

Supplier On-Time Delivery

Material Availability

Manufacturing Release Scheduling

  • Lead the cleanup of SAP backlog, including exception messages and outdated master data.
  • Implement standardized daily task lists in SAP for buyers and schedulers.
  • Support inventory strategy redesign, parameter optimization, and system simulations / stress testing.
  • Enable exception routing and root cause analysis with reason codes for KPI reporting.
  • Develop and deliver training to client end users on new workflows and best practice SAP usage.
  • Contribute to the development of future-state process designs and a technology enablement roadmap.
  • Occasionally support other engagements or pursuits as a subject matter expert in:

Supply Chain Strategy

Network Design

S&OP, Inventory, Supply & Demand Planning

Qualifications & Experience

  • 8+ years of experience in SAP MM/PP or related supply chain modules.
  • Proven track record as a Functional Consultant or Solution Architect leading SAP implementations or transformations.
  • Strong understanding of end-to-end supply chain processes and their integration within SAP.
  • Experience with capacity planning, production scheduling, and material availability management.
  • Hands-on experience with SAP master data management, exception handling, and process automation.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to translate complex technical concepts into actionable business improvements.
  • Consulting background preferred; ability to work in dynamic, client-facing environments.
  • Willingness to travel weekly (typically Monday through Thursday) as part of the client engagement team.
