Senior SCADA Engineer Data Center Systems

Location: Atlanta, GA (Hybrid or Onsite)

Role Overview

We are seeking a Senior SCADA Engineer to support and advance SCADA and control systems within mission-critical data center environments. This role is responsible for the design, implementation, optimization, and reliability of monitoring and control systems that support power, cooling, life-safety, and infrastructure operations. You will play a key role in ensuring uptime, resiliency, visibility, and security across data center facilities.

This position is ideal for a technically strong engineer who understands the intersection of industrial controls, electrical infrastructure, and data center operations.


Key Responsibilities

SCADA & Control Systems Engineering

  • Design, configure, deploy, and support SCADA systems used for data center infrastructure monitoring and control

  • Integrate SCADA platforms with electrical and mechanical systems including UPS, generators, switchgear, PDUs, chillers, CRAC/CRAH units, and BMS

  • Develop HMI screens, alarms, trending, and reporting to support real-time visibility and operational decision-making

  • Lead system architecture decisions to ensure scalability, redundancy, and high availability

Operational Reliability & Optimization

  • Support 24x7 mission-critical environments with a strong focus on uptime and fault tolerance

  • Troubleshoot control system issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement long-term corrective actions

  • Optimize alarm management, data accuracy, and system performance to reduce operational risk

  • Support commissioning, testing, and cutover activities for new data center builds and expansions

Cybersecurity & Compliance

  • Apply ICS/SCADA cybersecurity best practices including network segmentation, access control, patching, and hardening

  • Collaborate with IT and security teams to ensure compliance with internal security standards and regulatory requirements

  • Maintain secure integrations between SCADA systems and enterprise platforms

Documentation & Standards

  • Develop and maintain system documentation including architecture diagrams, SOPs, configuration baselines, and disaster recovery procedures

  • Establish and enforce SCADA standards and best practices across multiple facilities

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Serve as a technical leader and subject-matter expert for SCADA and controls

  • Mentor junior engineers and support cross-functional teams including facilities, electrical, mechanical, IT, and operations

  • Partner with vendors, integrators, and internal stakeholders to deliver projects on time and within scope


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related field

  • 7+ years of experience working with SCADA and industrial control systems

  • Hands-on experience in data center, mission-critical facilities, utilities, or industrial environments

  • Strong knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, industrial networking, and control system architectures

  • Experience integrating SCADA with electrical and mechanical infrastructure

  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills


Preferred Experience

  • Data center infrastructure monitoring systems (power and cooling)

  • Experience with major SCADA and automation platforms (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, GE, Wonderware, Ignition, etc.)

  • Knowledge of redundancy design, failover strategies, and commissioning best practices

  • Familiarity with ICS cybersecurity standards and best practices
