Job Description
80% - Provide computer hardware/software/network and system support for CReSIS users.
15% - Work with external contacts (Vendors, KU IT, etc.) to resolve issues with hardware, software, etc.
5% - Other duties as assigned.

Position Overview
We are seeking a student to provide IT assistance within the CReSIS department. A successful candidate will have the following skills and abilities listed in the qualification sections.

Position Requirements
During the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: (1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or (2) be pre-enrolled in the upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or (3) be enrolled in summer session or (4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments).
Employment Conditions
(1) Student employees are not eligible for remote work arrangements unless an exception is approved by the unit leadership and HR.
(2) This is an hourly/non-exempt position. A student employee cannot hold an hourly/non-exempt position and a salaried/exempt graduate or undergraduate position (GRA/GTA/GA/RUA/RGA) concurrently.

Required Qualifications
- Knowledge of Microsoft Windows or Linux operating systems (Windows 10, Windows server 2019, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Ubuntu, etc.), as evidenced in application materials.
- Knowledge of computer hardware and accessories (i.e. PCIe, VGA, DVI, Display Port, USB), as evidenced in application materials.
- Strong oral and written communication skills as evidenced by application materials
- Strong Workplace and Digital organization skills, as evidenced in application materials.
- Able to work in a team environment to help solve problems and ease workflow, as evidenced in application materials.
- Able to work 10-20 hours per week.
Preferred Qualifications
- IT support experience, as evidenced in application materials.
- Linux and Windows system administration experience, as evidenced in application materials.
- Knowledge of a scripting language such as Perl, Python, shell, and/or powershell, as evidenced in application materials.
- Experience with Virtual Servers and large File Systems, as evidenced in application materials.
