Description
Job Summary:
The Manager of the IT Project Management Office (PMO) is responsible for leading the governance, planning,
and execution of IT projects across the organization. This role oversees a team of IT project managers and
ensures consistent application of project management methodologies and best practices. The Manager plays a
strategic role in aligning IT initiatives with business objectives, optimizing resource allocation, and driving
project performance and value delivery
Primary Duties:
- Lead and manage the IT PMO team, including project managers, coordinators, and analysts.
- Establish and maintain PMO policies, procedures, templates, and tools to ensure standardized project execution.
- Oversee the IT project portfolio, prioritizing initiatives based on strategic alignment, resource availability, and ROI.
- Provide guidance and coaching to project teams on project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, Hybrid).
- Monitor and report on project performance, including scope, schedule, cost, quality, and risk metrics.
- Collaborate with IT leadership and business stakeholders to define project goals, scope, and deliverables.
- Facilitate portfolio and project governance processes, including steering committee meetings and status reviews.
- Ensure proper resource allocation across IT projects and resolve conflicts or escalations as needed.
- Support budget planning, forecasting, and tracking for IT projects and programs.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement in project delivery and team performance.
Qualifications
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 5+ years of IT project management experience, including 2+ years managing project managers or PMO teams.
- Strong knowledge of project and portfolio management tools (e.g., MS Project, ServiceNow, Jira, Smartsheet).
- Expertise in both traditional and Agile project delivery methodologies.
- PMP, PMI-ACP, or equivalent project management certification required.
- Excellent leadership, stakeholder management, and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage large, complex IT initiatives with cross-functional teams.
Preferred requirements:
- Experience in enterprise IT environments (e.g., infrastructure, cybersecurity, application development).
- Familiarity with ITIL or service management frameworks.
- Experience standing up or maturing a PMO function.

Work Environment:
