Are you an experienced quality control inspector with a strong background in leadership in a production environment? You may have been in different industries such as medical or automotive, or you may have even performed inspection activities without the inspector title such as an Applications Engineer. Do you have the passion to grow and share your craft in aerospace manufacturing? Do you want to amplify your scope of knowledge of mechanical inspection and materials that make technology operate and that support Space and National Defense products? If you answered yes, then this may be the aerospace inspection position for you!

In this position, you will utilize your extensive inspection experience of mechanical/electronic inspection while supporting and developing the team. You will quickly become proficient in BAE Systems Space and Mission Systems systems that plan and control manufacturing, part specifications, engineering drawings, and MRP/ERP. You will also provide leadership to Quality personnel across numerous project centers and programs.

The Operations Strategic Capabilities Unit plays a fundamental role in enabling efficient business and program execution - from strategic capital investments, industrial operations and an efficient supply chain, to state-of-the-art manufacturing and test operations and top-notch facilities management.

The Integrated Supply Chain team has a direct impact on program success, acting as a critical chain that links the end-to-end material flow together. Our organization helps propel us forward and achieve true mission partnership.

What You'll Do:
  • Cultivate a great atmosphere with clear communication and open collaboration.
  • Maintain working knowledge of BAE Systems Space and Mission Systems Process Library.
  • Perform basic dimensional inspections using micrometers, calipers, feeler gages, etc.
  • Create and maintain First Article Inspection Reports, as required.
  • Support Government and/or Customer Source Inspections, as required.
  • Inspect incoming or production materials or articles for conformance to engineering drawings, schematics, and specifications; process standards and specifications; and production or process plans.
  • Perform incoming test of components. Monitor for conformance to design or test specifications or standards.
  • Accept or reject materials or articles; identify and document non-conformance and notify appropriate personnel of potential rejection of items.
  • Refer/document unusual inspection problems to Supervisor or Project Quality Engineer.
  • Apply/enforce/comprehend accept/reject criteria and revision status from engineering drawings, MIL-specs, screening specs, or process certification training.
  • Witness or monitor functional/performance testing at sub-assembly and/or end-item level.
  • Obtain and maintain all necessary certifications, including GD&T and IPC required for assigned tasks.
  • Troubleshoot inspection problems related to fixtures, software, drawings, documentation, or processes.
  • Perform Final Inspection and review documentation required for end-item shipments.
  • Perform analytical investigations and report inspection problems including trend analysis.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with customer counterparts.
  • Adequately assign needs either forecasted through Workforce or direct program/project center requests.
  • Provide daily leadership to employees/peers for specific tasks, direction, and priorities.
  • Provide leadership support for employees, tasks, and cross-functional teams.
  • Provide input for, write, and/or deliver performance evaluations/reviews.
  • Recommend and/or initiate strategies to program, project, and organizational teams.
  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.
On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site five days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required.

Working Conditions:
  • Work is performed in an office environment, laboratory, cleanroom, or production floor.
  • May also perform functions in various work centers.
Hourly Rate: $34.13 - $46.15

Required Education, Experience, & Skills
  • High School diploma or equivalent plus 12 years or more related experience or a related 2-year technical degree and 10 years or more related experience.
  • Each higher-level related degree, i.e., Bachelor's or Master's, may substitute for two years of related experience. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
  • Expert level of competency in the area of mechanical and electrical inspection.
  • Expert level in interpreting and utilizing Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) for inspection purposes.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate technical issues and interface with engineering.
  • Proficiency using Windows and common Microsoft Office applications.
  • Good physical dexterity and coordination to safely handle parts, color vision/discrimination, and visual acuity and depth perception for inspection and CMM operations.
  • Ability to use microscopes and magnifiers and handle very small parts.
  • Ability to communicate as well as frequently bend, stand, walk, and lift up to 40 pounds occasionally.
A security clearance or access with Polygraph is not required to be eligible for this position. However, the applicant must be willing and eligible for submission, depending on program requirements, after an offer is accepted and must be able to maintain the applicable clearance/access.

Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $71000 - $96000

However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
