Job Title: Enterprise Data Reporting Specialist

Location: Hybrid Sacramento, CA
Duration: 12 Months (Contract)

Job Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Enterprise Data Reporting Specialist to join a high-impact data and analytics team supporting mission-critical enterprise applications. This role focuses on the design, development, and maintenance of dashboards and reports using IBM Cognos and Microsoft Power BI, as well as functional administration and performance optimization of reporting systems.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in SQL, data modeling, business analysis, and enterprise reporting within large-scale environments. This is a hybrid role based in Sacramento, CA, with both remote and onsite work required.

Key Responsibilities:

<>Report & Dashboard Development</>

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather reporting requirements and translate them into technical specifications.

  • Design and develop complex SQL/PLSQL queries and build reports and dashboards using Cognos and Power BI.

  • Integrate external applications with Cognos to automate report execution (e.g., Cognos SDK, batch processes).

  • Conduct testing (unit and UAT), documentation, and deployment of reports according to internal standards.

<>System Maintenance & Administration</>

  • Maintain and optimize existing reports, dashboards, and Framework Manager packages.

  • Provide functional administration for Cognos and Power BI platforms in production and non-production environments.

  • Ensure data security and implement data-level access controls for user-specific reporting.

  • Support ongoing operations and enhancements to enterprise business intelligence environments.

<>Knowledge Transfer & Documentation</>

  • Deliver consistent documentation of all work products and technical processes.

  • Collaborate with internal teams for structured knowledge transfer and long-term support readiness.

  • Provide regular status updates, technical documentation, test cases, and incident resolution logs.

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience designing and developing reports and dashboards in IBM Cognos and Microsoft Power BI.

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with complex SQL, PL/SQL, and JavaScript for reporting purposes.

  • 5+ years of experience in functional administration of Cognos or Power BI environments.

  • 3+ years of experience in report metadata modeling, including conformed dimensions, measures, and security rules.

  • 5+ years of domain knowledge in one or more of the following areas: Pension, Health Insurance, Customer Service, Finance, or Risk.
