Position Summary
The Erie Engineering Test Lab is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our Engineering team. This position would be responsible for providing mechanical testing support to the Noise, Vibration, and Harshness (NVH) Division throughout the Advancing Ideas to Market (AIM) process from proof-of-concept through New Product Introduction (NPI). He/he provides direction for the successful completion of development test programs and to ensure compliance to contractual product and test requirement through development and support of processes, plans and procedures. He/she is responsible for contributing to the continuous improvement of the Parker Lord Erie Engineering Lab (EL) through the identification of improvement opportunities, involvement in continuous improvement activities and mentorship of less senior employees.
Responsibilities
Exercise safe working habits and alert other personnel present in the EL facility who violate EL safety standards.
Generate test plans, procedures, and instructions from customer requirements
Configure test setups, fixtures, and instrumentation as required by the test plan, procedure, and/or standard
Conduct and/or supervise testing by technicians and other engineers
Determine and participate in preparing the appropriate product compliance documentation according to the customer/product requirements
Ensure accuracy and consistency of data results through documentation processes
Analyze data and compare results to a provided specification.
Learn new tools and techniques as they become available. Use computers to create and use spreadsheets, documents and databases, perform analyses, etc
Operate various test equipment including but not limited to pressure controllers, ovens, environmental chambers, power supplies, multi-meters, and oscilloscopes
Oversee several test projects simultaneously including contact with sub-contracting facilities regarding scheduling, quotations, materials, equipment, and requirements
Check and approve drawings to be issued. Create sketches, drawings, and instructions to communicate testing, manufacturing, and related information to other Lord employees, customers and vendors
Travel to customer and supplier sites when applicable to execute the required testing
Mentor less experienced co-workers on equipment operation, data recording, EL best practices, etc.
Develop and implement continuous improvement initiatives involving systemic and/or capital improvements.

Qualifications
Required:
- B.S. in Mechanical, Electrical, or other similar Engineering field
- 2+ years of industry related experience
- Proficient in MS Office
- Excellent written and verbal skills with an ability to effectively communicate with most levels of the organization
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, procedures, and contract documentation
- Ability to work in a team environment and cultivate strong customer relationships
- Demonstrated ability to use sound engineering judgment
- History of implementing technical solutions to a wide range of challenging problems
- Ability to assess data to verify results are in specification
- Basic understanding of standard laboratory practices and quality system
- Ability to mentor less experienced team members
- Ability to travel
- Fluent in English, both verbal and written
- Basic abilities using hand tools, power tools, and fabrication tools/equipment
- Master of Science in related discipline
- Ability to lead facility tours for internal and external customers
