Description

SAIC is seeking an organized and motivated Lead Systems Engineer who will work effectively in a fast-paced environment, specifically with submarine launched weapons / UUV systems and related test equipment. Candidates will work in a team environment with government and SAIC engineers to design, development, test and implement modern systems for the U.S. Navy.

This position offers a hybrid work arrangement, combining remote work with in-office collaboration. We emphasize flexibility and productivity while maintaining a strong sense of teamwork and communication. Our team works remotely and from our offices in Middletown RI and Silverdale WA, ensuring a balance of independent work and in-person collaboration.

General Description of Role/Responsibilities:
  • End - to - end ownership of systems design and verification requirements.
  • Oversee the entire systems engineering lifecycle, from concept development and requirements analysis to testing, validation, and deployment.
  • Integrate vehicle design, analysis, software, and operations at the subsystem and overall system levels.
  • Lead and manage a team of systems engineers and technical experts to support the design, development, and integration of underwater weapon systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical, electrical, software, and manufacturing engineering, to ensure seamless integration of systems and components.
  • Develop and maintain the system architecture, ensuring adherence to technical, performance, safety, quality, and reliability standards.
  • Develop system life cycle documentation for concept design, requirements engineering, system architecture, system design and development, system integration, test & evaluation, and transition operation and maintenance efforts.
  • Provide technical leadership in system design reviews, risk assessments, and solution validations.
  • Conduct regular evaluations of project milestones, identifying and addressing technical, manufacturing, and operational challenges.
  • Act as the primary technical point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, providing insights and recommendations on system capabilities and performance.
  • Provide oversight of subcontractor systems engineers and their tasking.
  • Travel will be required for this position (25%)

Qualifications

Qualifications:
  • Minimum of a B.S. degree from an accredited college or university in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field with 14 or more years of experience. M.S. degree desired, but not required.
  • Proven experience in the design, development, and integration of systems or related technologies.
  • Must have an understanding of Model-based Systems Engineering (MBSE).
  • In-depth knowledge of systems engineering and integration principles such as requirements definition, requirements traceability, functional decomposition, verification and validation, creating and managing interface control documents (ICDs), configuration management, systems engineering management plans (SEMP), and system architecture design.
  • Proficiency in utilizing engineering design and simulation tools and software.
  • Experience with requirements development tools such as DOORS Next Gen.
  • Prefer experience with systems engineering modeling tools, such as Cameo (desired but not required).
  • Position requires U.S. Citizenship.
  • Must have or be eligible to obtain a Secret security clearance.

Target salary range: $175,001 - $200,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
