Firewall Engineer

This company is seeking innovative individuals who are passionate about driving meaningful growth in a dynamic market. The company is located in the D.C. Area and will be remote local with 10% travel to DC for Major Meetings.

What You Will Be Doing:
  • Administer and maintain firewalls, including performing upgrades, managing policies, and validating configurations.
  • Demonstrate expertise in multiple firewall platforms, particularly Check Point and Palo Alto.
  • Evaluate and implement changes that align with current firewall policies and procedures.
  • Keep technical documentation current and aligned with operational standards.
  • Oversee and optimize additional cybersecurity tools, including IDS/IPS, URL Filtering, Application Control, Antivirus, and Advanced Malware Detection systems.
  • Provide after-hours support for maintenance windows, outages, or upgrade activities as needed.
Required Skills & Experience:
  • 5+ years of experience in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or related fields.
  • 4+ years of hands-on experience configuring and managing enterprise-level firewalls (Check Point, Palo Alto).
  • Strong grasp of firewall rules, security policies, and overall security operations.
  • Solid networking foundation and platform knowledge to quickly identify and resolve technical issues.
  • Skilled in packet capture analysis, with the ability to troubleshoot traffic and latency issues across all layers of the OSI model.
  • Excellent communication and customer service abilities, with regular updates provided to leadership on task progress.
Clerance Requirement:
  • Ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance is required. Applicants selected will undergo a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to sensitive information.
