About the Position

The Information Security Engineer provides technical execution of the Information Security Program led by the Chief Information Security Officer. The InfoSec Program supports a Defense-in-Depth security model utilizing security tools, policies, procedures and practices to identify, manage, and reduce cybersecurity risks to the County. The Security Engineers work under the direction of the Enterprise Security Architects to implement and manage security controls within the County's data systems and infrastructure.

We Require
  • Five years related IT work experience
    • Three years in a role as Network Administrator and/or System Administrator
    • One year of experience with:
      • Scripting/Programming, preferred experience with PowerShell and Python, or
      • Active Directory, or
      • Network/LAN Infrastructure, or
      • Creating technical documentation
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a closely related field
  • A combination of post-secondary education and/or job-related experience may substitute for the minimum qualifications on a year-for-year basis

We Also Value
  • Five years in a role as Network and/or Server Administration
    • Of which at least one year is at a Senior level, or
    • Of which at least three years are in one or more of the following:
      • Scripting, Programming, or Automated Configuration Management; or
      • VMWare Administration; or
      • Linux Server Administration, preferably RHEL
  • Two years of experience in any more or more of the following IT Security areas: security compliance and frameworks, security assessment, development and execution of gap analyses, or in the development and analysis of security controls.
  • Experience with the following:
    • Email Administration
    • Data Analysis
    • Identity Management: Entra, AD, Okta, PAM
    • Cloud environment,
    • Implementation of security-specific controls, tools, and/or platforms
  • Certifications:
    • Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP)
    • Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH)
    • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
    • Certified Lean Six Sigma Green Belt
    • Certified SAFe 4 Agilist (SA)
    • Offensive Security Certified Professional (OSCP)

Job Contributions
  • Maintains and optimizes the myriad information security tools and solutions including, but not limited to, privileged access management, email threat protection, vulnerability management, advanced endpoint detection and response, security information and event management and cloud access security broker
  • Develops and maintains standard operating procedures, systems security plans and systems recovery plans for tools and platforms managed by the InfoSec team.
  • Liaise between County Departments and Information Security for technical security projects, support and troubleshooting.
  • Provides security-related advanced technical support and implementation assistance of InfoSec-provided security tools to IT teams within the County
  • Reviews in-use technologies, tools, data and processes for Information Security Analysts and Architects for continuous improvement
  • Assists in performing risk assessments, related risk evaluations and communication
  • Coordinates implementation of system security standards for devices including, but not limited to, servers, mobile devices, network switches and routers, desktops, laptops, and printers in coordination with County IT teams
  • Coordinates implementation of security standards for hosted and on-prem applications, services, and various Operating Systems in coordination with County IT teams

Working Conditions
  • Exerting 50-100 lbs. occasionally, 10-25 lbs. frequently, or up to 10-20 lbs. constantly
  • Position is typically office or administrative work and is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions
  • Must obtain and maintain an Information Security related certification within one year of hire
