Job Details

Piper Companies is seeking a Resident Engineer to join our an industry leading network security organization. The Resident Engineer will work closely with customer Network Operations Teams to optimize network performance, mitigate risks, and support the deployment of Juniper Networks products. This Role will be On-Site in Overland Park, KS!

Responsibilities of the Resident Engineer include:
  • Provide operational support for Juniper routing and security products within the customer's infrastructure.
  • Troubleshoot network and equipment issues, manage JTAC cases, and track them through resolution.
  • Train customer personnel on configuration and operation of Juniper products.
  • Audit and evaluate network configurations, alarms, and logs to proactively identify issues.
  • Facilitate weekly operations calls and provide updates on network health and open cases.
  • Collaborate with other Resident Engineers to develop best practices and minimize upgrade risks.
  • Test and validate software patches, hardware, and new features in lab and production environments.
  • Support network inventory tracking and documentation of operational procedures.
  • Assist in the design, planning, and deployment of Juniper MX and ACX networking and security solutions.

Qualifications for the Resident Engineer include:
  • Minimum 6 years of experience in design, implementation, and operations of large-scale IP networks.
  • Hands-on experience with Juniper hardware, particularly MX and ACX platforms.
  • Proficiency with JUNOS CLI and core routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, IS-IS).
  • Strong knowledge of MPLS/RSVP, Segment Routing, VPLS, Martini L2circuit, EVPN/MPLS, and L3VPN.
  • Experience with network design and deployment in service provider environments.
  • Excellent customer-facing communication and presentation skills.
  • Technical certifications such as JNCIS, JNCIP, JNCIE, CCNP, or CCIE are strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in Python or other scripting languages is a plus.

Compensation for the Resident Engineer includes:
  • Compensation: $145,000 - $150,000
