The Role

Hitachi Digital Services provides secure hyperscale public cloud migrations and infrastructure management services. As an AWS Premier Consulting Partner and a recognized leader in Gartner s Magic Quadrant for Public Cloud MSPs, we deliver enterprise-grade cloud solutions that meet complex federal requirements.

We are seeking strong Senior Cloud Engineers with experience in AWS architecture, operations, and cloud financial management (FinOps). Candidates must have prior federal experience, a strong understanding of compliance and governance, and the ability to lead in both technical implementation and cloud cost optimization.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and implementation of secure and scalable AWS cloud environments for federal clients.
  • Partner with FinOps teams to implement cost management practices, including reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Perform in-depth analysis of AWS usage and cost data to identify trends, anomalies, and cost optimization opportunities.
  • Ensure tagging, budgeting, and reporting policies are enforced in line with FinOps and federal compliance standards.
  • Support automation of cloud financial operations using tools like Athena, CUR, and Cost Explorer APIs.
  • Collaborate with procurement, finance, and engineering teams to align usage with business and budget objectives.
  • Senior support engineer for customers, as well as the more junior members of the team
  • Work with the customer and lead architect on designing and implementing Virtual Private Cloud VPC environments, including compute, storage, database, networking, security etc. in the CSP ecosystem
  • Deploy/Manage CSP environments including VPN solutions between regions and subnets
  • Manage CSP Image architecture including the development of machine templates and blueprints
  • Leading junior team members through deployment and implementation of systems infrastructure projects and overseeing the Cloud environments based on customer requirements
  • Validation to ensure that the environment meets all security and compliance controls
  • Leveraging written and verbal communication skills to work directly with customers and translate business needs into technical requirements for implementation
  • Creating knowledge articles and run books for solutions developed
  • Mentoring junior members of the team

Required Skills & Experience

  • Experience working in 24x7 Operations and Managed Service model, supporting external customers.
  • Long working knowledge and experience of AWS (Azure and Google Cloud Platform optional) Services and Offerings such as Infrastructure, Networking, Messaging, Application Services, Migration Services, Cost Management Platform
  • Working knowledge of Configuration Management (Ansible preferred) Continuous Integration Tools (GitLAB, GitHub, Jenkins)
  • Prior experience provisioning and spinning up Kubernetes Clusters and managing Kubernetes installations
  • Hands on Terraform experience
  • Possession of excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience working in Federal or State government environments
  • Understanding of Security and Vulnerability management and related tools (OKTA, Tenable, TrendMicro, XSoar, CyberARK)
  • In depth knowledge of UNIX/Linux and Windows Environment
  • End to End configuration & trouble shooting of the web and application servers (Nginx, Apache, Tomcat, IIS)
  • Good written and verbal English communication
  • Production experience to build scalable systems (load balancers, memcached, master/slave architectures)
  • Experience supporting a managed services infrastructure (Public cloud)
  • Prior work with Cloud Monitoring tools (Dynatrace preferred, DataDog, Nagios, Cacti, CloudWatch, Gnaglia, etc.)
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Mesos, NoSQL databases (DynamoDB, Cassandra, MongoDB, etc)
  • Other Open Source tools used in the infrastructure space (Packer, Terraform, Vagrant, etc.)
  • Expertise in AWS core services (EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, VPC, IAM, CloudWatch, etc.)
  • Experience with AWS Organizations, Control Tower, and multi-account governance
  • Strong knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation)
  • Experience designing secure, scalable AWS environments in federal settings (FedRAMP, NIST 800-53)
  • Proficient in Kubernetes deployment on AWS (EKS preferred)
  • Experience with AWS billing tools: Cost Explorer, Budgets, Trusted Advisor, Cost & Usage Reports (CUR)
  • Strong understanding of AWS pricing models (On-Demand, Savings Plans, RIs)
  • Hands-on experience with FinOps automation and reporting (e.g., Athena, QuickSight, Python-based tooling)
  • Familiarity with the FinOps Framework (inform, optimize, operate)
  • Proven track record working in U.S. federal cloud environments
  • Deep knowledge of FedRAMP compliance, cloud audit readiness, and related security controls
  • Experience coordinating with federal stakeholders and understanding of procurement/cost allocation models

Optional / Preferred Skills

  • FinOps Certified Practitioner (FCP)
  • AWS Professional Certification (Solutions Architect, SysOps Admin, etc.)
  • Familiarity with multi-cloud FinOps tools (CloudHealth, Apptio Cloudability)
  • Exposure to Agile/Scrum methodologies
  • Background in finance, procurement, or chargeback/showback processes
