Job Details

Job Summary:
The GIS Data Technician supports the maintenance and update of the client's GIS system by performing edits to the Esri Utility Network (UN) model, with a focus on electrical distribution assets and customer services.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Update and maintain spatial and attribute data in the Esri Utility Network model for electric distribution assets, including poles, lines, transformers, and customer service connections.
  • Interpret work orders, as-built drawings, and Google Earth imagery to identify required GIS changes.
  • Collaborate directly with FirstEnergy designers and engineers to verify asset locations, resolve discrepancies, and process updates related to completed field work.
  • Ensure GIS data complies with FirstEnergy s data standards, topology rules, and model structure

Tools & Technologies:

  • Primary: Esri ArcGIS Pro with Utility Network extension
  • Supporting: Google Earth, GIS editing tools, work order management systems

Qualifications:

  • Experience with GIS editing, ideally within the Esri Utility Network framework.
  • Understanding of electric utility infrastructure and work order processing
