Job Title: Principal Engineer - Cloud and Linux/Windows Systems
Location: Hybrid Remote (3 days onsite in Bloomington, MN); candidates must be based in the Minneapolis-St. Paul, MN metro area
Salary Range: $120,000-$155,000 + bonus (based on education, experience, and skills)
Note: Sponsorship is not available for this position. This is a Direct hire/FTE W2 role and candidates must be eligible to work without sponsorship both now and in the future.
Summary:
Our client is seeking a seasoned Principal Systems Engineer to lead the design, implementation, and management of enterprise infrastructure for Azure, Office 365, and virtualization platforms. This role focuses on building secure, scalable, and highly available systems to support a manufacturing environment. You will collaborate with a team of engineers to automate, maintain, and improve compute and network systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and manage enterprise infrastructure across cloud and on-prem environments.
- Optimize cloud and network resources for scalability, security, and reliability.
- Manage mobile device platforms and implement conditional access policies.
- Automate administrative tasks using scripting tools.
- Lead system upgrades and respond to critical infrastructure events.
- Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to ensure a secure environment.
- Prepare system metrics and management reports.
- Oversee hardware/software lifecycles, participate in project planning, and support incident response.
- Participate in on-call rotation.
Required Skills & Experience:
- 10+ years of experience in systems engineering or related roles.
- Strong background in Windows and Linux administration.
- Expert knowledge of Active Directory, Entra, Group Policy, and IAM.
- Proficient in scripting (PowerShell, Python, Ansible, Terraform, Power Automate).
- Experience with MDM and conditional access.
- Familiarity with DevOps, CI/CD, and automation practices.
- Hands-on experience with SAN/storage systems (Hitachi, Nutanix).
- Working knowledge of the NIST 800-171/CMMC 2.0 framework.
- Solid understanding of DR/BC/HA strategies and core network services (AD, DNS, DHCP).
- Strong troubleshooting and documentation skills.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
Preferred Certifications:
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert
- Microsoft 365 Certified: Enterprise Administrator Expert
- VMware Certified Professional (VCP), Microsoft Hyper-V, or Nutanix Certified Professional (NCP)
