Job Title: RCDD Cable Engineer
Location: Mid-Atlantic Region (NY & VA) and Texas Travel Required

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and certified RCDD Cable Engineer to lead the design, implementation, and validation of structured cabling systems in data centers and commercial infrastructure projects. This position plays a critical role in supporting infrastructure technologies and delivering robust cabling solutions in alignment with global IT and networking standards. The ideal candidate will have strong engineering acumen, excellent communication skills, and a proven track record in project execution and technical leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the design and engineering of structured cabling systems, backbone/riser, lateral distribution, and technology room layouts.
Develop scope of work, design/bid documents, cost estimates, and administer RFPs.
Perform site surveys, validate as-built drawings, and ensure adherence to building codes and standards.
Collaborate with internal/external stakeholders, including General Contractors, MEP Engineers, and architects.
Oversee cabling contractor activities and construction site operations.
Translate business requirements into functional designs aligned with department standards.
Use tools like AutoCAD, MS Project, MS Visio, and MS Office to produce technical documentation.
Participate in infrastructure testing, QA, and project close-out.
Create budgets, risk assessments, validation plans, and delivery lifecycle documentation.
Provide support throughout the infrastructure acceptance process.
Maintain industry knowledge and stay up-to-date with global standards and best practices.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Active RCDD Certification (Required)
Bachelor s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
10+ years of structured cabling design experience in data centers or commercial infrastructure.
Proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite; Visio experience preferred.
Familiarity with Corning, CommScope, and other infrastructure systems.
Knowledge of WAN, Data/IP Networks, Voice systems, Audio Visual, and Security cabling.
Strong understanding of ISO/IEC, CENELEC, and BICSI standards.
Experience with IT project delivery methodologies (ITIL, Six Sigma, etc.) is a plus.
Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills.
Ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams across different time zones.
Flexible to work varied hours, including weekends when necessary.
Willingness to travel frequently across NY, VA, and TX; additional locations may be added.
Preferred:
Management or team leadership experience.
Proficiency in additional languages.
Familiarity with global design authority processes and documentation standards.
