Description
** Candidates must sit in the Northeast and be open to traveling into NYC occasionally **
1) Expertise in IBM DB2 on z/OS - experience with installation, upgrades, maintenance, performance tuning, and troubleshooting of DB2 subsystems.
2) Strong Knowledge of z/OS Mainframe Environment and Tools - Proficiency with z/OS, JES2, SMP/E, TSO, IOCP/HCD, and IBM utilities. Familiarity with related systems like CICS, IMS, VTAM, TCP/IP, and UNIX System Services.
3) Experience with Production Support and Systems Programming - Experience with CPU installs, system diagnostics, and enterprise-scale implementations.
Primary responsibilities will include:
Supporting and maintaining DB2 subsystems in a z/OS environment
Performing DB2 software installs, upgrades, and maintenance
Diagnosing and resolving complex DB2 and related product issues
Tuning DB2 for optimal performance and resource utilization
Providing technical leadership and documentation for DB2 best practices
Utilizing a strong knowledge of SMP/E and its role in the installation process
Conducting ongoing maintenance (installing, patching, upgrading, administering, etc.) of the mainframe z/OS operating system, accompanying storage systems, systems software products (e.g., database, transaction server, security management, scheduling, report distribution, etc.), and UNIX Systems Services.
The candidate is required to provide Production off-hour coverage and support periodic weekend implementations.
Experience / Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in DB2 Database system recovery.
Working knowledge of DB2.
Must have experience with VTAM and TCP/IP.
A minimum of 10 years of experience working with z/OS, JES2, SMP/E, TSO, IOCP/HCD, basic IBM utilities (IDCAMS, IEFBR14, etc.), program product installations, working knowledge of the IBM virtual tape system, and Unix System Services.
Working knowledge of CICS, IMS, and AFP printing is a plus.
Experience in using monitoring tools such as OMEGAMON
Working with an enterprise-wide, large-scale implementation
Excellent communication skills (Oral and written), interpersonal, and organizational skills are required
The candidate must have experience with mainframe CPU installs as a systems programmer Consultant
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree or 10 + years of experience in relevant technical field is required.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $85.00 - $95.00/hr.
