Job Description:

Parsons is currently seeking a Biology Laboratory Technician Level II to join the Biologics Immunology Core within Biologics Research and Development at WRAIR.

A biology technician II level performs experiments to aid biological researchers in their duties and to assist with maintenance of laboratory supplies/equipment. A bachelor's degree in a biology-type field plus a minimum of two years practical research laboratory experience or a recent master's degree with a research laboratory component is required.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform experiments in support of laboratory projects and evaluate immune responses in samples from preclinical and clinical studies.
  • Laboratory bench work activities include, but are not limited to, lymphocyte isolation from whole blood, sample preparation/aliquoting, mammalian cell culture, and performing cellular assays (ELISpot, flow cytometric and/or cytokine detection using multiplex methods) with appropriate sterile techniques.
  • Accurate and timely documentation of research experiments in notebooks
  • Support general laboratory management, such as supply/reagent/chemical inventory maintenance, waste disposal, equipment maintenance/QC, and general laboratory maintenance/cleanliness, to include storage units such as refrigerators, freezers, and incubators.
  • Assist in maintaining sample and supply inventories.

Required Qualifications:
  • University Bachelor's degree in a related field (Biology degree preferred) and a minimum of two (2) years research laboratory experience or a recent Master's degree with a research laboratory component.
  • Knowledge of general laboratory sterile technique and mammalian cell culture.
  • Experience with techniques relevant to immunological response characterization (flow cytometry, cell stimulations for cytokine secretion, etc.)
  • Strong team player with excellent communication and strong inter-personal skills.
  • Good documentation abilities.
  • Desire to learn.
  • Systematic and organized approach to time management.
  • Detail-oriented work ethic.
  • Ability to adapt to a fluent work environment and changing priorities.

Desired but not required:
  • Background in assay development and optimization.
  • Capable of performing antibody assays (ELISA or Luminex, including isotyping and avidity assays).
  • Knowledge of quality systems and SOPs.

Salary Range:
$52,700.00 - $92,200.00
