Job Description

Key Responsibilities of the Master Researcher - BTS System
  • Lead the design and definition of future BTS/AAU architectures, including innovations for high-frequency applications, fronthaul/backhaul evolution, and interface designs.
  • Drive the technical strategy for next-generation wireless system architecture, going beyond current 5G/6G standards.
  • Guide the team in identifying core challenges and opportunities for the future of BTS systems and define the direction for research investments.
  • Conduct system-level simulations and analysis using tools such as MATLAB, Python, C/C++ to validate architectural concepts.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentoring across a team of system, RF, antenna and algorithm experts.
  • Work in close partnership with other owned labs and global partners (3GPP notably) to deliver research outcomes with long-term commercial impact.
  • Translate long-term technological vision into concrete deliverables aligned with industry roadmaps and the company's product strategy.


The Successful Applicant

Key Requirements Essential Experience & Skills
  • PhD in Telecommunications, RF Engineering, BTS Architecture, Signal Processing or related field,
  • Minimum of 8 years' experience in BTS or AAU system design, including both research and practical deployment,
  • Proven experience in RF system design, particularly in multi-antenna systems, hardware architectures and radio propagation,
  • Hands-on experience with Layer 1 and Layer 2 systems in LTE, NR, or equivalent wireless standards,
  • Demonstrated capability in strategic technology planning over long-term horizons (10+ years),
  • Familiarity with AAU-to-BBU integration and end-to-end system performance optimisation,
  • Project or team management experience is required, must be comfortable leading multidisciplinary R&D teams.


Preferred Experience
  • Experience with cooperative research projects, such as joint R&D initiatives with universities or industrial partners.
  • A strong track record of innovation and delivering successful product outcomes from research-stage technologies.
  • Experience in designing and validating new wireless architectures through end-to-end simulation workflows.

  • Deep understanding of 6G value scenarios and commercialisation pathways.
  • Excellent analytical, organisational and problem-solving abilities.
