Position: Network Access Engineer (DOCSIS)
Location: Remote
Hiring Mode: 6+ Months Contract
Schedule: 4 days per week (10 hour shifts, 11 hours with lunch) - Sunday to Wednesday or Wednesday to Saturday
Shifts: Seeking coverage for 2 shifts (We will need an even split of candidates for each shift.
Afternoon - 1:00pm - 11:00pm MT OR Overnight - 10:00pm - 8:00am MT
Job Description:
As part of an impactful team, the Network Access Engineer will play a vital role in supporting the deployment and stabilization of our new Distributed Access Architecture (DAA) systems. This specialized team is dedicated to resolving customer-impacting issues that arise following DAA cutovers, ensuring network reliability, and supporting field personnel during post-deployment transitions.
You will collaborate closely with infrastructure, service operations, and field teams to troubleshoot node-related and DOCSIS performance issues, document resolutions, and identify patterns that drive long-term service improvements. This position requires flexibility, analytical thinking, and a calm, solutions-focused approach in a fast-paced 24/7 operational environment.

You bring critical thinking and creativity to troubleshooting complex DOCSIS and network issues, collaborating with diverse teams across shifts to deliver timely, effective solutions. You combine strong technical expertise with clear communication, ensuring smooth DAA cutovers and exceptional service reliability for customers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as a core member of the team, supporting post-cutover operations and immediate customer-impacting issues.
- Troubleshoot and resolve node, DOCSIS, and video service disruptions identified after customer migrations to the new DAA system.
- Provide real-time operational support and technical guidance to field and deployment teams.
- Document incident details and written resolution summaries within ticketing systems to support data-driven continuous improvement.
- Identify recurring issues and collaborate with deployment and engineering teams to ensure permanent corrective actions are implemented.
- Maintain clear and consistent communication across shifts to ensure seamless handoffs and knowledge sharing.
- Operate effectively under pressure in a dynamic environment with shifting priorities.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Strong understanding of network core and transport concepts.
- Demonstrated experience with device configuration, network troubleshooting, and operational support in Video or DOCSIS environments.
- Working knowledge of video transport, encryption methodologies, and conditional access systems.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Ability to make sound technical decisions in high-pressure or ambiguous situations.
- Proficiency with computers, monitoring tools, and network software applications.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Process-oriented mindset with strong critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills to identify, analyze, and resolve complex issues efficiently.
DOCSIS-Specific Expertise
- Knowledge of DOCSIS standards, CCAP, and access network platforms.
- Familiarity with DOCSIS modulation profiles, TFTP, TOD, CM files, and related provisioning components.
- Understanding of analog transmission line, fiber optic, and electronic theory.
- Experience with CMTS/DOCSIS operations preferred but not required.
