The Work

As a key member of our team, you will:

Design, develop, and deploy AI/ML models and predictive analytics solutions.

Leverage big data technologies, cloud infrastructure, and modern MLOps practices.

Build and integrate tools to monitor, explain, and enhance AI model performance.

Collaborate cross-functionally to understand use cases and deliver scalable, production-grade solutions.

Drive innovation in aircraft readiness, operational decision-making, and system maintenance through AI/ML.

Who You Are

You're a motivated, curious, and collaborative AI/ML engineer or data scientist who is ready to tackle real-world challenges. You bring both technical skill and a drive to continuously learn and grow.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Machine Learning, or a related STEM field with 2 years related experience.

Proficient in Python and libraries like NumPy, SciPy, and Pandas

Experience working with large datasets: management, exploration, visualization, and analysis

Hands-on with machine learning frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow, Scikit-learn, Keras)

Familiarity with DevOps tools: Docker, Git (GitLab/GitHub), CI/CD pipelines

Basic understanding of MLOps pipelines: labeling, explainability, model export, testing, deployment, monitoring

Comfortable interfacing with databases (SQL, MongoDB)

Strong communicator, actively engaged in collaborative platforms like Teams and Email

Desired Skills:

Master's degree in a related STEM field

Experience developing on Linux environments

Skilled in Dockerfiles, Helm, Kubernetes deployments

Familiarity with Generative AI and AI assistants

Experience with Reinforcement Learning

Hands-on with Kubernetes orchestration platforms (e.g., Rancher, OpenShift)

Effective communicator with both technical and non-technical audiences

Team player who thrives in dynamic, multi-disciplinary environments

Willing to challenge existing ideas and drive continuous improvement

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Machine Learning, or related STEM degree with 2 years of related professional experience or related Master's degree and no experience.
Experience with DevOps tools: Docker, Git [GitLab, GitHub], Continuous Integration [CI], Continuous Deployment [CD]
Experience with large dataset management, exploration, visualization, and analysis
Experience with machine learning model training and analysis through open-source frameworks (Pytorch, Tensorflow, Sklearn, Keras, etc)
Experience with Python and multiple libraries (NumPy, SciPy, Pandas, etc.)
Basic knowledge of training and analysis steps in a modern MLOps pipeline including labeling, local and global explainability, model export and serialization, conformance testing, deployment, and monitoring
Familiarity interfacing with databases (SQL, MongoDB, etc.)

Desired skills

Master's Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Machine Learning, or related STEM degree.
Experience developing applications on Linux.
Experience writing Dockerfiles, Helm and Kubernetes deployment scripts and templates.
Familiarity with Generative AI and leveraging AI assistants to solve an array of diverse problems.
Experience with Reinforcement Learning libraries
Experience with managing Kubernetes container orchestration platforms including Rancher or OpenShift.
Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate complex design information, technical decision and issues to both highly technical and non-technical peers.
Ability to build and maintain relationships across organizations, collaborate with others, engage in constructive conflict, and manage interpersonal dynamics - not afraid to challenge the existing approach to solutions
Comfortable working in a fast paced and dynamic multi-disciplinary environment.
Strong communicator and active participant in team communication channels such as Teams/Email.

Ability to work remotely

Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.

Work Schedule Information

Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

National Pay Statement

Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $86,100 - $151,800. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer. Benefits offered: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, 401(k) match, Flexible Spending Accounts, EAP, Education Assistance, Parental Leave, Paid time off, and Holidays. (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year. This position is incentive plan eligible.

Premium Pay Statement
