ASSYST is seeking a skilled Business Management Specialist to support our client's Project Management Offices in Tallahassee, Florida.
Job Type: Contract (Corp to Corp/C2C or 1099)
Job Location: Tallahassee, Florida (Onsite)
The Business Management Specialist will serve as the primary communications lead for the Project Management Offices (PMOs), overseeing all program-related communication strategies. This role is responsible for ensuring consistent, timely, and strategic messaging across multiple high-impact modernization initiatives. The specialist will coordinate communications among internal teams, contractors, leadership, external partners, and legislative stakeholders to support alignment, transparency, and compliance with agency goals.
Responsibilities
- Develop and manage communication strategies for major projects.
- Coordinate messaging across project teams, CMOs, vendors, and external stakeholders.
- Align communication efforts for initiatives such as CIMS, PALM, TRP, and Officer Station Connectivity.
- Ensure communications meet compliance standards including CJIS, HIPAA, and NIST.
- Lead crisis and risk communication efforts for disruptions, delays, or compliance incidents.
- Act as the primary liaison for internal and external project communications.
- Support employee engagement and change management during system rollouts.
- Monitor and improve communication effectiveness using performance metrics and feedback.
- Apply best practices from public-sector communication to enhance messaging efficiency.
Requirements:
- Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Communications, or a related field, or 10 years of equivalent work experience.
- Proven experience managing communications across large-scale, multi-departmental programs.
- Strong knowledge of change management frameworks such as ADKAR or Prosci.
- Familiarity with CJIS, HIPAA, and NIST compliance standards.
- Excellent writing, editing, and presentation skills.
- Ability to tailor communication for technical teams, executives, public stakeholders, and media.
- Experience in crisis communications and executive reporting.
- Strong leadership in cross-functional coordination and vendor management.
- Ability to manage multiple communication streams under tight deadlines.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with business process mapping and documenting current state applications.
- Skilled in facilitating sessions with business leaders, SMEs, and users.
- Understanding of web applications and common software approaches that support business functions.
