Description
Robert Half has an exciting opportunity for a Database Administrator who is proficient at and enjoys solving problems involving multiple layers of complexity. This may be the position for you if you are a skilled problem solver with fine-tuned decision-making abilities. This long-term contract / temporary to hire opportunity for a Database Administrator is in Sarasota, Florida.
What you get to do every single day
- Configure database monitoring utilities to avoid false alarms
- Determine the best way to improve performance, whether through hardware purchases, server configuration changes, or index/query changes
- Give advice on database design, tuning options, and other possible issues
- Restore service to databases as outages happen, including after hours and on weekends
- Ensure database server topology, configuration, and maintenance are designed and executed to meet SLA objectives
- Handle all database instances, installing, configuring, and maintaining them across development, staging, and production environments
- Establish the baseline for system performance and detect deviation, suggesting and executing improvements to slow running queries
Requirements
- 5+ years of database experience
- Storage and server hardware experience a plus
- Good understanding of relational database management systems
- Prior experience adjusting queries to enhance performance
- SQL Database experience
- Solid understanding of DB2 Database
- Deep understanding of IBM Maximo
- Foundational knowledge in relational databases
- Experience in production environments and willingness to be on-call
- Experience developing and supporting documentation
