RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client in Spring, TX that is seeking a Labs System Engineer to support and expand our lab infrastructure. This role focuses on virtualization technologies, operating system management, and server deployment. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with VMware, Hyper-V, and related tools, and will play a key role in scaling lab capabilities to meet evolving technical and business needs.
Responsibilities:
* Design, deploy, and maintain virtual environments using VMware vSphere, Hyper-V, and other virtualization platforms
* Install, configure, and manage various operating systems (Windows Server, Linux distributions) across lab environments
* Automate server provisioning and configuration using tools like PowerShell, Ansible, or Terraform
* Monitor lab infrastructure performance and ensure high availability and reliability
* Collaborate with engineering and product teams to support testing, development, and validation efforts
* Maintain documentation for lab configurations, procedures, and best practices
* Evaluate and recommend new technologies to enhance lab capabilities
* Ensure compliance with security and data protection standards within lab environments
REQUIREMENTS:
* 3+ years of experience in virtualization and server deployment
* Strong expertise in VMware vSphere, ESXi, and/or Microsoft Hyper-V
* Solid understanding of Windows Server, Linux, and networking fundamentals
* Experience with scripting and automation (PowerShell, Bash, Python)
* Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and integration with lab environments is a plus
* Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
* Strong communication and documentation abilities
Preferred Qualifications:
* Certifications such as VMware VCP, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, or CompTIA Server+
* Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS) in hybrid lab setups
* Knowledge of containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) is a bonus
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
