Critical Infrastructure Senior Project Managers with one of our technology clients operating data centers out of Northern VA. Our client manages construction activity within the operational data center spaces. The CPI team is tasked with critical infrastructure improvement projects to optimize utilization of space, power, and cooling within operational data centers around the globe. These activities are outside of the scope of standard construction delivery and regular preventative maintenance tasks.
The PM serves as support to Data Center Project Managers (PM); managing on site activities between 6am and 3pm. PM(s) will partner with Data Center Project Manager(s) for specific tasks, as assigned. The PM will support the execution of CPI projects from start to closeout. Adaptability is key requirement for the role to evolve with changing demands and priorities. Projects include the improvement of electrical, mechanical, plumbing, fire protection, and structural systems. Elementary knowledge of these systems and the ability to support the coordination, direction and implementation of these efforts are required. PM personnel are required to work both independently as well as a part of multi-disciplinary teams to deliver results. Personnel Protective Equipment (PPE) must be worn at all times while performing walkthroughs and overseeing vendor work on site. Duration: 1 year contract with the potential to extend/convert full-time
Project types that PMs will support include:The Electrical Room Undeferral (ERUD) project adds additional electrical line-ups within Data Centers where currently installed electrical line-ups are at or above 80% utilization. The scope of this effort goes beyond the installation of additional electrical capacity to include the installation of up to eight (8) air handling units per site as well as the installation of an additional IW tank per installed electrical line-up. Specific tasks include:
- Installation of concrete pads for generators
- Generator installation
- Installation of transformers, power distribution panels, switchboards, busducts and associated structural supports
- Refeed of existing racks
- Installation of air handling units and exhaust fans to include tie-in to existing electrical and duct systems
- Installation of Industrial Water (IW) tank(s) and tie in to existing plumbing
- Integration of newly installed components into building controls systems (BMS and EPMS)
- System Testing, Adjusting and Balancing
- System functional test and commissioning
The Sound Remediation project scope encompasses the replacement of existing building exhaust fans and associated equipment, air handling unit silencer installation, and the addition of roof mounted screen walls. Specific tasks include:
- Removal and replacement of existing exhaust fans, to include exhaust fan curb structural support
- Removal and replacement of all variable frequency drives
- Installation of electrical components to include conduit, feeders, breakers and lightning protection
- Air Handling Unit (AHU) silencer and plenum installation and to include structural supports
- Screen wall installation to include structural supports
- Integration of newly installed components into building controls systems
- System Testing, Adjusting and Balancing
- System functional test and commissioning
Responsibilities:- Oversee construction activities for safety and policy adherence on behalf of the CPI Project Manager.
- Create Method of Procedures (MOP) and MCMs and ensure vendors perform work according to Method of Procedures (MOP)
- Maintain constant communication with CPI PM to escalate any procedural deviations and safety incidents
- Coordinate project schedules
- Document weekly status updates
- Conduct morning briefings to review work to be accomplished and applicable safety protocols
- Coordinate/receive deliveries
Basic Qualifications:- 5+ years' experience working in on-site construction trades (e.g. mechanical, electrical, general).
- 5+ years of on-site construction trade vendor management.
- 5+ years supporting Data Center projects or working in Critical Infrastructure environments that are live.
- Knowledge of Data Center Electrical and Mechanical systems
- NFPA 70E Certification
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple competing priorities
- Ability to troubleshoot technical and non-technical problems
- Detail oriented
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to understand building systems and construction drawings
- Ability to identify risks and impacts of project activities and propose effective mitigations
- Ability to move and stand for up to 8 hours
Desired Qualifications:- 2+ years' experience leading retrofit projects in a data center
- Undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Engineering
- Program Management Professional (PMP) Certification
- OSHA-30 Certification
