We are looking to hire a vendor Tech Writer to support Responsible AI Education projects, beginning with a 12 month contract.

Requirements for role:

• We would like to hire 1 vendor TechWriter III to work on Responsible AI education projects. This role requires both Technical Writing experience (ability to create accurate, clear, concise, and well-organized technical content for a range of audience types across various platforms, adapting to different learning styles, levels of understanding, and backgrounds) and AI/ML domain experience (solid AI/ML technical acumen and ability to describe AI systems at both high- and low- levels). Backgrounds in sociotechnical theory/systems, socially-beneficial technology, or human-centered technology is a plus.
• To assist in candidate alignment, please include writing samples on a machine learning or Generative AI topic when sharing profiles.
• We are open to any global location for this role. Note that we will need 4+ hours of overlap with US Pacific timezone hours at least 3 days per week in order to accommodate meetings with team and subject matter experts.

Services & Deliverables

Supplier will provide Technical Writing expertise to support Engineering Education programs:

1. Map existing Responsible AI workflows by consulting with identified PoCs.
2. Use knowledge of machine learning and artificial intelligence systems to develop documentation and educational materials that guide product teams on how to accomplish different AI/ML projects.
3. Produce clear, succinct, and well-organized educational materials that meet the needs of a technical audience (developers/infra/PA teams across company interested in implementing these solutions).
4. Develop an understanding of the project constraints, scoping work, communicating content creation plans, and securing buy-in from stakeholders.
5. Determine the right level of detail for complex technical information and write technical documentation; collaborate with subject matter experts on iterations of content drafts.
6. Manage community-driven docs and drive active contributions.
7. Review, revise, modify, or edit documents prepared by researchers, engineers, and policy experts.
8. Work with cross-functional stakeholders to improve quality and increase adoption of published information.
9. Use knowledge of machine learning and artificial intelligence systems to develop documentation and educational materials that guide product teams on how to accomplish different AI/ML projects.
10. Research, establish, and enforce guidance in alignment with company strategy and tooling roadmap.
11. Develop, mobilize, and execute a knowledge management strategy for a growing/changing complex domain space.

Technical Writing projects will require daily and weekly tasks, including:

• Developing new or iterating on existing documentation on a weekly basis.
• Participate in weekly update meetings and ad hoc meetings with subject matter experts to gather all relevant information needed to deliver work.
• Processing data to measure reach, quality, and impact of documentation on a monthly basis.
• Delivering timely status reports on key operation indicators on a monthly basis.
• Providing weekly updates on assigned work.
• Developing marketing materials to promote use of documentation at launch time for each piece of documentation.
• Establishing style guidelines and standards for a large, complex documentation project at the start of a project.
• Guiding the integration of adjacent projects timelines, goals, and objectives on a weekly basis.

The compensation range for this position is $100K to $150K

(dependent on factors including but not limited to client requirements, experience, statutory considerations, and location).
