Job Summary

The Population Health Data Analyst plays a critical role in supporting the Vandalia Health Network's mission to improve health outcomes and reduce healthcare costs. This position is responsible for analyzing complex data sets, developing actionable insights, and creating dashboards and reports to guide decision-making across clinical, operational, and financial domains. The Data Analyst will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including clinical staff, IT, and leadership, to drive data-informed strategies and initiatives that enhance population health management and value-based care outcomes.

Responsibilities
Analyze and interpret clinical, financial, and operational data to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities for improvement.
Develop and maintain dashboards, scorecards, and reports to track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to population health, care quality, and cost efficiency.
Collaborate with care teams, operations, and leadership to define data requirements and deliver insights that support value-based care initiatives.
Conduct predictive modeling and risk stratification to identify high-risk populations and inform targeted interventions.
Partner with IT and data engineering teams to ensure data accuracy, integrity, and availability across systems.
Translate complex data findings into clear, actionable recommendations for stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
Support regulatory reporting and compliance, including measures for programs such as MSSP ACO, HEDIS, and MIPS.
Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of population health programs and interventions, making recommendations for continuous improvement.
Stay informed about emerging trends in data analytics, healthcare technology, and population health management.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business, Population Health or related field.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in data analysis, preferably in a healthcare or population health setting.

  • Excellent written and oral communication, including strong skills in developing presentations and briefing materials.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks effectively, and consistently meet deadlines.

Preferred

  • Ability to work with large quantities of detailed data and illuminate strategic insights that can impact business operations and performance.
  • Proficiency in SQL, data visualization tools and data manipulation tools.
  • Advanced understanding of healthcare data, including claims, EMR systems, and quality measures.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

The employee must possess/obtain (by the end of the orientation period) and demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide developmentally appropriate assessment, treatment or care as defined by the department's identified patient ages. Specifically the employee must be able to demonstrate competency in: 1) ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of patient needs; 2) knowledge of growth and development; and 3) understanding of the range of treatment needed by the patients.
