Astrion has an exciting opportunity for a Launch Equipment Test Facility Aerospace Technician, 2nd Shift for the LASSO II contract, supporting the Space Division.

**This position is currently funded for one year.**

JOB DETAILS

The ideal candidate must demonstrate a competent level of proficiency with experience and ability to work in a crew and to perform tasks with little supervision. Technician classifications shall be mechanical, pneumatic, fluids, & test related. While working in a team environment, assist in the application of engineering principles in creating, testing, and modifying mechanical equipment, support systems, and/or other duties as assigned. Needs to be able to read and understand schematics, drawings, and work instructions. Also perform maintenance and operations of LETF equipment and systems. Having experience in Launch Vehicle Umbilical Plate mating is a plus and also having a willingness to learn from experienced staff technicians is a must.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS
  • High school diploma with a minimum of 7 years relevant experience.


DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS
  • Ability to use computers and printers used for work instructions, viewing drawings & specifications, producing reports, time keeping, and schedules.
  • Experience using a variety of equipment used in fabrication and testing, including common hand tools, measurement instruments, torque wrenches, etc.
  • Forklifts 6K-30K, JLG, scissor lifts, jib hoist, and overhead cranes.
  • Current U.S. Citizenship is required.


RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Will be required work both inside and outside throughout the LETF complex.
  • Position may require the individual to travel to different areas at KSC.
  • Walking on uneven terrain including paved areas, gravel/rocks, and dirt/sand is required to access various locations on the facility.
  • Climbing ladders, platforms, and accessing confined spaces may be necessary.
  • All work must be completed in a safe manner in accordance with NASA and company safety standards.
  • Will be required to wear safety shoes, hard hat, eye protection, fall protection, and other associated personal protective equipment.
  • Position may involve extended periods of sitting or standing and working at heights.
  • Physical requirements include sitting, walking, standing, extensive use of stairs, and access to elevated and/or remote structures.
  • Position is located at a hazardous testing facility, must be able to quickly evacuate buildings in the event of an emergency.
  • This is a temporary second shift position with work hours between Monday-Saturday.
  • Position may require occasional overtime including weekend work depending on task.
  • Must be dependable and punctual.
  • Shift work will be required.
