Job Title: Data Security Lead

Job Location: Fortmill, SC

Job Type: Contract

Job Description:

Pay Range: $70hr - $75hr

The Data Security Engineer will work closely with client stakeholders to identify technical requirements and ensure secure handling of sensitive data in compliance with regulatory standards.
The role involves designing, implementing, and maintaining advanced data protection solutions across on-premises and cloud environments using tools such as Protegrity, Thales, and MicroFocus Voltage.

Responsibilities:

Work with client stakeholders to determine technical requirements aligned with business objectives and applicable security controls.
Develop and document security requirements and specifications for security policies.
Identify and apply appropriate security techniques such as encryption (FPE, AES, Transparent) and tokenization (SST, vaultless, vault-based) using Protegrity.
Analyze upstream and downstream application dependencies to ensure proper configuration and application of security protocols.
Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations including GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, SOC, and NIST.
Design, configure, and implement data security tools such as Protegrity, MicroFocus Voltage, Imperva, Immuta, Privacera, and Thales.
Provide regular project updates including weekly status reports, issue logs, risks, and action items.
Install, configure, and implement data protection platforms across on-premises and cloud environments.
Design and deploy Protegrity vaultless tokenization, encryption, and masking solutions to protect sensitive data (PII, PHI, PCI).
Integrate API security and Protegrity SDKs within microservices and cloud-native applications.
Implement and manage Protegrity security policies, user access controls, key management, and data discovery features.
Troubleshoot and optimize Protegrity configurations for performance and scalability.
Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation.
Train and mentor teams on data security tools and best practices.

Experience:

8+ years of experience implementing data security and compliance requirements.
4+ years of hands-on experience designing and implementing data security policies, controls, and governance.
2+ years of experience working with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform) and their native security services.
Strong conceptual and practical understanding of encryption, tokenization, data masking, RBAC, ABAC, auditing, and monitoring using tools such as Protegrity, Thales CipherTrust, or OpenText Voltage.
Deep knowledge of cloud security architecture and implementation.
Experience administering and maintaining data security/privacy/governance tools including policy configuration, upgrades, and patching.
Proficiency in encryption techniques such as AES, FPE, TDE, and PKI, and tokenization frameworks using Protegrity.
Experience with key management systems (KMS, HSMs, Vaults) for encryption key lifecycle management.
Hands-on integration experience with AWS KMS, Azure Key Vault, and Google Cloud KMS.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with both business and technical stakeholders.
Ability to multitask, work independently, coordinate with on-site teams, and manage client priorities effectively.

Qualification And Education:

Bachelor s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
