About the Job

As a Data Center Engineer - Critical Environments, you will lead the engineering operations of mission-critical facilities, ensuring optimal performance, safety, and efficiency. You will oversee capital and expense budgets, ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards, and manage technical operations across HVAC, electrical, and life safety systems.
Responsibilities
  • Prepare and manage expense and capital budgets in line with client cost guidelines; report variances monthly.
  • Ensure accurate timekeeping and budget-compliant overtime tracking for engineering staff.
  • Conduct monthly inspections of buildings and equipment; initiate repairs and replacements as needed.
  • Recommend and implement fire, safety, and environmental hazard mitigation measures.
  • Coordinate with emergency services and lead fire drills and emergency response training.
  • Support tenant construction and capital improvements; review blueprints and manage contractor compliance.
  • Promote energy efficiency through daily operations and team training; collaborate on automated systems integration.
  • Ensure compliance with property accounting procedures, including competitive bidding and documentation.
  • Oversee testing of building systems; document procedures and recommend operational improvements.
  • Maintain accurate logs of equipment readings and operational changes.
  • Recommend and manage value-enhancing projects for client assets.
  • Maintain inventory of tools, equipment, and supplies; evaluate vendors and manage procurement.
  • Prepare and manage MEP service contracts for quality and cost-effectiveness.
  • Assist in developing emergency procedures, contractor rules, and tenant design criteria.
Minimum Qualifications
  • EPA 608 Certification.
  • NFPA 70E Training.
  • Associate degree in HVAC or related technical field.
  • 5+ years of engineering experience in critical environments.
  • In-depth knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, automation, and life safety systems.
  • Familiarity with building codes and standards.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for tenant and contractor interactions.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents and blueprints.
  • Moderate proficiency in manual trades (e.g., carpentry, electromechanical repair).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze technical procedures and regulations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access).
  • Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and presentation skills.
