Job Title: Patch Management Engineer
Location: Florida - Onsite (Miami Preferred but open to Juno Beach)
Type: Contract

Job Description:
We are seeking a meticulous Patch Implementor to join our dynamic IT team. The Patch Implementor will be responsible for the timely application of patches and updates to our IT infrastructure to ensure optimal performance and security.
Key Responsibilities:
Patch and Package Management:

  • Responsible for the package creation of identified patch deployments for Microsoft and Redhat operating systems.
  • Develop packages for identified software upgrades for various systems such as WorkStations, Servers, and Virtual Desktops.

Patch Deployment:

  • Deploy specific authorized versions and patches into a highly regulated environment using deployment tools such as BigFix, Tanium, and others as requested.
  • Create unique actions depending on the needs of the assets being deployed to, such as Reboot, Notification of Reboot, No Reboot, or specific steps to complete before reboot.
  • Monitoring and Assessment: Regularly monitor systems for vulnerabilities and ensure that patches are applied in a timely manner to mitigate security risks.
  • Testing: Thoroughly test patches in a controlled environment prior to deployment to ensure compatibility and functionality.
  • Documentation: Maintain detailed records of all patches applied, including the nature of updates, systems impacted, and any issues encountered during installation.

Process Improvement:

  • Identify areas of concern with the patching process.
  • Identify areas that can be automated.
  • Streamline processes where applicable.
  • Compliance: Ensure that all patching activities comply with company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Troubleshooting: Address any issues or failures that arise during the patching process, working to minimize downtime and disruption.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other IT staff, including network, server, and application teams, to ensure seamless integration and deployment of patches.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in patch management or a similar role within IT operations.
  • Strong knowledge of various operating systems including Windows and Linux.
  • Familiarity with patch management tools such as WSUS, SCCM, BigFix, and Tanium.
  • Understanding of cybersecurity principles and the importance of timely patch application.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize workload effectively.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a large-scale enterprise environment.
  • Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Security+, Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), or similar.
