RESPONSIBILITIES:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

 

Responsible in buying raw materials for the Wet Plant Manufacturing facility. Also, support ordering equipment, materials and services to support undersea cable equipment manufacturing. Purchasing responsibility will be managing the raw materials commodity. Objective is to place orders in a timely manner to ensure that goods and services arrive on schedule at the most economical cost.

Other Areas of responsibility.

  • Works within ERP system, Oracle to create Purchase Orders from approved Requisitions.
  • Negotiate with suppliers, drive cost reduction efforts, and negotiate contracts.
  • Prepare Requests for Quotations (RFQ) to ensure competitive pricing.
  • Develop and maintain spreadsheets to support complex quotations and purchase orders.
  • Expedite long-lead material orders to support production changes.
  • Generate appropriate correspondence within the organization and with suppliers to support purchasing activities.
  • Participates in regular Supply Chain meetings and interfaces with all departments to resolve any problems and issues.
  • Review Vendor Open Order Reports weekly.
  • Contacts vendors with discrepancies with quantity, invoice, or quality.
  • Ensure compliance with purchasing policies and procedures, ethical practices and adherence to relevant laws and regulations.
  • Develops weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports in support of required activities.

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Education/Experience: College business or technical degree required. Minimum 5 years experience preferred. APICS training a plus. Small Business Administration (SBA) or Conflict Minerals knowledge also a plus.
  • Language Skills: Strong administrative skills and good verbal and written communications skills.
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • The performance of this position may occasionally require exposure to the manufacturing areas where under certain areas require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses with side shields and mandatory hearing protection.
  • Primary environment: ambient room temperatures, lighting and traditional office equipment as found in a typical office environment
