Overview:
The Data Governance Analyst supports the organization's data governance vision by implementing policies, improving data management practices, and identifying gaps between current and future state capabilities. This role requires strong relationship-building skills, the ability to translate between business and technical contexts, and expertise with data governance tools and processes.

Job Description:
Overview:
The Data Governance Analyst supports the organization's data governance vision by implementing policies, improving data management practices, and identifying gaps between current and future state capabilities. This role requires strong relationship-building skills, the ability to translate between business and technical contexts, and expertise with data governance tools and processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support data governance initiatives with a focus on Data Quality, Metadata Management (data dictionary, business glossary, asset relationships), and Data Security.
- Provide experience-based guidance to stakeholders on data quality, security, and metadata management best practices.
- Analyze business and data processes to identify improvement opportunities and help convert them into actionable projects.
- Train users on data catalog and governance tools.
- Identify and formalize data owners, stewards, and custodians.
- Assist users with data scanning, profiling, lineage, data quality rules, impact analysis, and linking assets to business terms.
- Represent the Data Governance Office in meetings, communicating program vision and direction.
- Develop training materials and resources for data governance participants.
Qualifications:
A total of 8 years of combined education and experience , satisfied by one of the following:
- Option 1: Bachelor's in STEM + Master's in STEM + 2 years relevant experience
- Option 2: Bachelor's in STEM + 4 years relevant experience
- Option 3: 8 years relevant work experience
- Minimum 2 years in data management , such as BI, data warehousing, database administration, data science, MDM, data quality, stewardship, privacy/compliance, interoperability, metadata management, or reference data management.
- For Options 2 and 3, additional experience may come from: IT (networks, security, development, support, project management), teaching/training/curriculum development, technical writing, leadership roles, or decision-making roles heavily involving data.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with one or more data governance or data management platforms (e.g., Collibra, Informatica, Alation, Atlan, IBM InfoSphere, Talend, Ataccama, Ovaledge, Erwin, SAP MDG, OneTrust, Azure Purview, Qlik Catalog, Apache Atlas, Profisee, Manta, Dataedo). Collibra experience is strongly preferred .
- Experience with ticketing or project management tools, especially Atlassian Jira and Confluence.
- Experience with related data technologies:
- Database administration and SQL development (Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, etc.)
- Data warehousing and ETL tools (Snowflake, Exadata, etc.)
- Business intelligence tools (Tableau, Power BI, Qlik, etc.)
- Data modeling and diagramming tools
- Data security and data integration tools (APIs, middleware, webhooks)
- Master Data Management tools and processes
