Summary:
We are seeking an experienced DOCSIS Engineer to join our development-focused lab team. This role is at the heart of evolving our DOCSIS 4.0 CPE platform, moving from traditional testing to full development integration. The successful candidate will work with gateway devices bound for production environments, participating in end-to-end validation and shaping the firmware stack from the MAC and PHY layers up through DOCSIS protocols. This position requires deep network engineering knowledge, hands-on test experience, and the ability to contribute to architecture-level discussions.
Responsibilities:
* DOCSIS Engineer will test and validate gateway and Wi-Fi router firmware aligned with DOCSIS 4.0 and RDK-B stacks
* Participate in development efforts by integrating testing into firmware design cycles
* Work closely with chipset vendors to develop and verify MAC and PHY layer functionality
* Perform deep-dive troubleshooting and system-level debugging in lab environments
* Define, develop, and execute comprehensive test plans for DOCSIS and ONU solutions
* Support end-to-end testing from chip layer through full network stack, including ONU and fiber transitions
* As a DOCSIS Engineer, you will contribute to moving the organization from test-only to test-plus-development capability
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive firmware strategy and router platform design
REQUIREMENTS:
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Physics, or equivalent experience
* Minimum 5 years of network engineering experience, including Cisco and/or Juniper environments
* Proven experience with DOCSIS and DPOE systems in lab or production testing
* Strong understanding of IEEE, ANSI standards, EPON, and physical media (Fiber, UTP, etc.)
* Working knowledge of OSI model, TCP/IP, TR-069, and performance testing of CPE devices
* Familiarity with RDK-B and firmware design principles at MAC and PHY levels
* Test automation and end-to-end testing experience
* Linux command line proficiency
* Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills
* Comfortable working on-site in a fast-paced lab environment
Preferred:
* Industry certifications such as CCNA/CCNP or vendor-specific training (Cisco, Juniper, Alcatel-Lucent)
* Experience with MSOs, chipset providers (e.g., Broadcom), or DOCSIS/ONU vendors
* Hands-on experience with test tools and platforms for DOCSIS and optical technologies
* Understanding of optical fiber principles and ONU architecture
* Python scripting for test automation and proof-of-concept development
