Position Title: Software Engineer IV HP NonStop Systems

Pay Rate: $45/hr - $50/hr W2
Position Description:
We are seeking an experienced Software Engineer IV with deep expertise in HP NonStop (HPNS) systems to join a high-impact engineering team supporting mission-critical financial applications. This role involves designing, developing, testing, and deploying COBOL and TAL code in a real-time, high-availability environment that supports 24/7 transaction processing.
The ideal candidate thrives under pressure, demonstrates strong problem-solving skills, and brings proven experience supporting authorization and batch processing systems within the financial sector.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, code, test, and deploy COBOL and TAL programs on HP NonStop systems.
- Support and enhance real-time authorization processing (e.g., credit card transactions) and related batch processing workflows.
- Manage data integration between mainframe and distributed systems using flat files and SQL tables.
- Utilize DB2 databases and tools such as Git and Jenkins for code migration and deployment.
- Work within Agile/Scrum frameworks using Jira and participate in continuous integration and delivery pipelines.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional technical teams to ensure reliability, performance, and scalability of production systems.
- Maintain strong attention to detail and ensure all changes meet compliance and quality standards.
Required Skills/Education:
- Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical field.
- 8 10 years of experience in software engineering with a focus on HP NonStop (Tandem) systems.
- Proficiency in COBOL and TAL (Tandem Application Language); knowledge of C is a plus.
- Experience with DB2, Git, Jenkins, and Agile development methodologies.
- Familiarity with JCL and REXX scripting is beneficial.
- Proven ability to design and deploy solutions in high-risk, high-availability environments.
- Financial services or payment processing industry experience is strongly preferred.
