Description:
QUALITY ENGINEER
(Must have experience in manufacturing)
Job Summary: Our client, a plastics and packaging manufacturer, is seeking a Quality Engineer to lead quality assurance efforts, ensure compliance with industry standards, and support continuous improvement across operations.
Responsibilities:
Act as the plant expert for quality systems and initiatives
Standardize quality operations to reduce defects and improve consistency
Maintain and update quality specifications and documentation
Lead product and process improvement initiatives
Train employees on quality awareness and technical skills
Collaborate with Product Development and Production teams
Manage quality trials and validations
Identify and oversee quality improvement projects
Document quality improvements and directives
Manage quality-related expenditures
Troubleshoot daily quality issues
Develop business cases for quality improvements
Ensure finished products meet customer specifications
Ensure compliance with safety standards
Investigate customer complaints and internal non-conformances
Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions
Conduct risk assessments and drive preventive actions
Investigate quality failures and implement corrective measures
Qualifications & Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, or related field (or equivalent experience)
Five years of progressive quality or process engineering experience preferred
Background in manufacturing quality, ideally in packaging or plastics
Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
Effective communication and presentation abilities
Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
Familiarity with manufacturing safety and quality programs
Experience with data analysis and statistical process control
Strong documentation and process standardization skills
Proficiency in computer-based data collection and reporting
Innovative and adaptable mindset
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with ISO 9001, GMP, or similar standards
Background in continuous manufacturing operation
Knowledge of labeling, printing, or plastics extrusion
Familiarity with PLCs and automated inspection systems
Six Sigma, Lean, or TPS experience
Experience with advanced process controls and quality systems
Degree in Chemical, Industrial, or Plastics Engineering
