Role: Mainframe Production Support Engineer NOT A MAINFRAME DEVELOPER
Location: Remote (Candidates must reside in the DMV or West Virginia areas)

Summary:
CareFirst is seeking a Mainframe Production Support Engineer to oversee overnight operations and monitor IT infrastructure and applications, four nights per week. The environment primarily consists of DB2, JCL, COBOL, and z/OS.
Responsibilities:
- Provide real-time "eyes-on-glass" monitoring of both Mainframe and Distributed systems to proactively detect and prevent service disruptions
- Diagnose and troubleshoot complex issues through to resolution
- Create and modify job schedules and batch jobs across Mainframe, Windows, and UNIX environments
Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience as a Mainframe Support Engineer supporting applications in DB2, JCL, COBOL, and z/OS
- Proven experience creating or modifying batch jobs and job schedules in Mainframe environments
- Experience with infrastructure and application monitoring tools (e.g., Datadog, BigPanda)
- Hands-on experience with Control-M for automating batch job processing
- Availability for night shifts beginning at 6:00 PM or 8:00 PM EST
- Willingness to work Friday or Saturday nights, including holidays
Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have):
- Experience using Datadog or BigPanda for monitoring
- Prior experience working overnight shifts
